🌍 World Refugee Day.

Earlier this year, , co-founder of Get Ready for Europe and Ukrainian Voices RC, and coordinator of the Ukrainian Crisis Project in Brussels, took part in the conference “Dix ans après la crise des réfugiés: Quel avenir pour le droit d’asile en Europe?”

The event was organized by the, Synergies Migrations, and the Institut Convergences Migrations in partnership with BNP Paribas Foundation.
Its aim was not only to bring back the voices of key actors from 2015, but also to highlight the contribution of both refugees and European citizens to social cohesion and to shaping Europe’s future.

For Europe, building sustainable, long-term solutions is now more critical than ever — not crisis response, but systemic integration policy that gives people room to become leaders in their own communities.

🤝 Because a resilient Europe is one that integrates — not just receives.

Reception is just the first step. The real test of any asylum system is what happens after: can a person find housing, work, education for their children, a community. Numbers of arrivals speak to political will. People’s lives speak to whether the system actually worked.

On World Refugee Day, it’s worth remembering: behind every statistic is a real person waiting for a chance to begin again.

🌍 World Refugee Day

Every refugee’s story isn’t just about fleeing — it’s about the strength to start over. A home you had to leave behind. And the courage to build a new life where no one knows you yet.

How is Europe supporting people seeking protection today? 👇

This week — on 12 June 2026 — the EU’s new Pact on Migration and Asylum entered into application. It’s the biggest reform of Europe’s asylum system in years: a shared database across countries, faster border procedures, and a solidarity mechanism where countries that don’t take in refugees directly support others financially. There’s also stronger human rights monitoring, so speed doesn’t come at the cost of safeguards.

The goal is to move from crisis-mode reactions to predictable, systemic management — where every person gets a clear, timely decision, and their rights stay protected.

But in practice, EU countries are still at different stages: some have already passed the laws, others are just finishing the process.

One pact. 27 countries. Very different speeds.

At the conference «Dix ans après la crise des réfugiés — Quel avenir pour le droit d’asile en Europe?» (Chaillot, Paris), , co-founder and CEO of Welcount, shared his perspective on exactly this question.

Systems are changing. But behind every reform are real people waiting for a decision, a home, a chance to start again. And how human this reform turns out to be in practice will decide whether Europe becomes a space of real support — not just procedures.

European Week in Ukraine — 600 + voices. 5 universities. One European future.

From 4 to 9 May 2026, Get Ready for Europe brought something new to Ukrainian campuses: a week where students didn’t just learn about the EU — they debated it, simulated it, and made it their own.

In partnership with the State Service for Education Quality of Ukraine, we ran a flagship initiative across four cities — Lviv, Lutsk, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Odesa — with each university serving as an independent hub of European dialogue.

600+ participants. Faculty coordinators. Expert speakers. One principle: one day — one university — one city.

Students engaged with the questions that matter most right now: How does EU decision-making work? What are fundamental rights in practice? What does a career in EU institutions actually look like?

The energy in every room made one thing clear — Ukrainian academic communities are not waiting for EU accession to start thinking like Europeans. They already are.

This is what Get Ready for Europe is built for.

З 4 по 9 травня 2026 року Get Ready for Europe привезла на українські кампуси щось нове: тиждень, де студенти не просто вивчали ЄС — вони його обговорювали, моделювали і привласнювали.

У партнерстві з Державною службою якості освіти України ми провели флагманську ініціативу у чотирьох містах — Львові, Луцьку, Києві, Житомирі та Одесі. Кожен університет — самостійний хаб європейського діалогу.

One stop on our European Week in Ukraine — and it became clear immediately: this is more than a partner. This is a shared vision.

As part of the Get Ready For Europe project, supported by the State Service of Education Quality of Ukraine, Державна служба якості освіти України we ran a training with students and faculty — not about Europe as an abstract idea, but about Europe as a living process that each of us is part of.

Zhytomyr Polytechnic has become one of the key partners of our project — and that’s no coincidence. There’s genuine openness to change here, a real drive to bring new approaches into education, and a deep interest in what Ukraine will look like tomorrow.
And this is just the beginning. 🤝

We’re continuing our collaboration — online and offline training programmes are ahead, built together with the university. Because European integration starts not in Brussels, but in lecture halls where young people learn to think differently.
