How do quality assurance agencies understand and engage with sustainability and learning for sustainability? 🌱

In collaboration with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), ENQA has explored how quality assurance agencies are addressing sustainability and Learning for Sustainability (LfS) across the European Higher Education Area.

🔎 A significant number of agencies report having no formal, system-wide, or operational definition of sustainability, but the understanding of learning for sustainability is, on the whole, less developed and more uneven.

"Evidence shows that stakeholder involvement in quality assurance is firmly established. Stakeholder groups typically contribute through a variety of bodies, including supervisory, decision-making, technical, and auxiliary structures. [...] At the same time, ENQA review panels have frequently recommended that agencies further formalise and structure stakeholder involvement to ensure a meaningful impact, as well as broaden their stakeholder base to incorporate additional perspectives."

These are only some of the conclusios from ENQA's thematic analysis on stakeholder involvement in quality assurance. 📘
