⚫️Three years after October 7.

👉🏼Three years ago, October 7 marked one of the darkest days for Jewish people since the Holocaust. Hamas murdered civilians in Israel, committed acts of terror and took hundreds of people hostage. We remember those killed and stand with survivors and their families. There can be no ambiguity: nothing justifies terrorism or the deliberate murder of civilians.

🇪🇺October 7 also exposed something Europe cannot ignore. Antisemitism has moved from screens into streets, universities and everyday life. Jewish institutions still require protection, and Jewish people are confronted with whether it is safe to show who they are. This is a European failure. Jewish life belongs to Europe, has shaped Europe and must have a future in Europe. “Never Again” must describe how we act today, not only how we remember the past.

‼️The years since October 7 have also brought immense suffering to Palestinians. Gaza has been devastated, countless people have been killed and communities displaced. Palestinians cannot be asked to pay for the crimes of Hamas, just as Jewish people cannot be held responsible for the actions of the Israeli government.

❌We reject antisemitism, anti-Palestinian hatred and anti-Muslim racism. Our solidarity is not conditional. Civilian lives must be protected, international humanitarian law respected, and violations must have consequences, whoever the victims are and whoever is responsible.

🇪🇺Returning to the world as it was before October 7 is neither possible nor enough. Europe must use its political weight to help secure lasting peace and a political future for both peoples. We remain committed to an independent, democratic and viable Palestinian state alongside a safe and democratic Israel, based on international law and mutually recognised borders.

🌹As Young European Socialists, peace is not simply the absence of bombs. It means Palestinians living with freedom and self-determination, Israelis living with security, and Jewish people across Europe living openly and without fear.

✊🏼Housing for people, not for profit.❤️

🌹🇪🇺Today, as Young European Socialists, we stand with tenants across Europe, especially young people and families struggling to find a safe, stable and genuinely affordable home.

🫱🏻‍🫲🏼We call for stronger protection for tenants and an end to arbitrary evictions that can tear families apart, undermine people’s wellbeing and leave citizens without a secure place to live.

✊🏼We need stronger action against rent increases and poor housing conditions. Nobody should have to choose between paying the rent and putting food on the table. Nobody should be forced to live in unsafe or inadequate housing.

👉🏼Europe needs a massive public investment plan to build and renovate public, social, cooperative and genuinely affordable homes, for young people starting their lives, for families building their futures, and for older people who deserve to retire with dignity.

👉🏼From Spain, where young people face enormous barriers to accessing affordable housing, to communities across Europe, the message is the same:

👉🏼Young people should not have to fight in the streets to be heard about the schools they learn in.

👩🏻‍🎓Across France, high-school students are mobilising against overcrowded classrooms, teacher shortages, neglected school buildings, unbearable conditions during heatwaves and the growing pressure placed on young people by an education system struggling to provide the resources they deserve. The movement has now spread across the country, with hundreds of schools affected and university students joining the mobilisation.

🌹🇪🇺As Young European Socialists, we stand in solidarity with young people demanding quality public education, decent learning conditions and investment in their future.

👉🏼Education is not a privilege. It is a right. And young people are not a problem to be managed, we are citizens whose voices must be heard.

🕊️We also stand for peaceful democratic mobilisation. Violence, attacks and destruction cannot become the language of a movement whose demands deserve to be heard on their merits. At the same time, the escalation of tensions and allegations of excessive police force must be taken seriously, with the rights and safety of students protected.

🇪🇺 From France to every corner of Europe: young people deserve schools that invest in them, public services that work for everyone, and a future worth believing in! Solidarity with the students mobilising for their education.

👉🏼Young people should not have to fight in the streets to be heard about the schools they learn in.

🌹Housing is not a luxury, is a right! 🏠

👉🏼For too many young people, having a place of our own is becoming a distant dream. Rent goes up, homes become investment assets, and the people who actually live in our cities are pushed further and further away.

👉🏼Maricarmen’s case could happen to any of us.That is what makes it so important: housing crisis is not someone else’s problem. It becomes ours overnight.

❌We should not accept a system where young people are told to leave their communities because housing has become more profitable for investors than affordable for residents.

🌹When the market fails people, we intervene: more public housing, stronger protections for tenants, action against speculation and confronting vulture funds that treat our cities as financial portfolios.

🇪🇺Young people deserve the chance to stay, live and build a future where they belong.

🏠A home is not a luxury.
🌆A city is not a financial asset.

👉🏼Because peace is more than the absence of war.

Peace is solidarity.
Peace is equality.
Peace is democracy.

Von der Leyen, turn words into action for young people! 🇪🇺 Ursula von der Leyen

👉🏼Young people are not asking Europe to promise us a future. We are asking Europe to make that future possible.

🏡Housing is unaffordable. Secure jobs are harder to find. Wages are struggling to keep up with the cost of living. Too many young people are being forced to postpone independence and the life they want to build.

👉🏼This cannot become the normal condition of being young in Europe.

✊🏼We need a Europe that:

🏠 Makes housing affordable and tackles speculation and the pressure of short-term rentals.

💼 Guarantees decent and secure work, with fair conditions and strong rights for young workers.

🌱 Makes the green transition work for young people, creating good jobs while delivering climate action and energy security.

🎓 Treats education as a right, ensuring access to quality education, training, mobility and lifelong learning for all.

💶 Invests in its next generation, with social investment, youth employment, cohesion, education and housing at the heart of the European budget.

👉🏼Europe cannot do more for young people with less.

👉🏼President von der Leyen, we have heard the promises.Now, words must be turned into action.

🌹Young people are ready to build Europe’s future. But we need political courage to make it possible.

🗳️The counting continues, but the preliminary results send a clear message:

🌹With Magdalena Andersson at the helm, Swedish Social Democratic Party (SAP) has once again emerged as Sweden’s largest political force, while the progressive bloc remains ahead.

The final result is still to come, and every vote must be counted. But these results show that another direction is possible - towards a fairer, stronger and more united Sweden where young people can feel proud to live in.

As Young European Socialists, we stand with Magdalena and our Swedish comrades from SSU and S-studenter in the fight for a progressive future for Sweden: one built on solidarity, equality and democracy.

The far right didn’t win. Democracy did. Sweden chose hope over fear.
