Welcome Home International seeks to find innovative, progressive methods to support those in society who need a humane and warm environment to prosper. Integration involves may aspects and touches many people. We have begun planning and implementing hands on projects to create inviting environments for newcomers and local community members to acquire the tools and information needed to help integration happen naturally.

Our next member is part of FEDME (Spanish Federation of Sports of
Mountain and Climbing) and he is Javier González Lázaro.

With a PhD from the University of León and a doctoral thesis on "Contributions to Trail Running," a degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, and working a trail technician for FEDME, Javier is more than qualified to be overseeing the activities of the Mountain project he is taking part in.

Javier has been a professor at the European University Miguel de Cervantes in Valladolid from 2013 to May 2026, where he taught mainly Physical Activity in Nature and Business Management of Active Tourism. He has since settled down at the University of León as a professor there.

Another aspect of the project that was spoken about during the meeting in June was the activities and materials that would be used for our Training of Trainers programme. They will be further developed with the inclusion of the Belgian Alpine organisation, which will support the Belgian partner in the implementation of pilot activities and contribute to the training phase.

He is a videomaker for CCB working on editorial, corporate, and narrative projects. Simone ensures that each video is incorporated with a strong focus on visual consistency and authenticity. Within international and local contexts, he translates people, places, and experiences into impactful visual stories.

July 9 (Reuters) - Disease outbreaks, poor sanitation, lack of access to clean water, and disruptions to basic medical care could pose the greatest health risks ‌to the tens of thousands of survivors of Venezuela's deadly earthquakes, the Americas branch of the World Health Organization said on Thursday.

Venezuela has opened more than 80 shelters for those whose homes were destroyed in twin quakes on June 24, with the number of displaced reaching 17,907 by Thursday.

As part of her morning routine, Karen Murray wakes up and immediately turns on the TV at her mother's assisted living home in New Jersey, 40 minutes away.

Before sunrise, my two closest friends and I pack water bottles, food and biscuits into our backpacks. We put on whatever shoes we have, pull our hijabs tightly against the cold wind, and leave for the mountains above our village in Kargil.

During our Online meeting held in June, we have discussed the progress of the project as a whole up until this point. Diversity of experiences came up as a key point during discussion and will lay the foundation for finding more interest from participants and local organisations alike. We have also decided to send out newsletters on the Training of Trainers during a few month period in which further information about the event can be found as well as images, videos and participant reflections are shared.

We were delighted to welcome partners and participants to Brussels for the Hold on, be Strong! LTTA and Multiplier Event.

During the LTTA, project partners met to exchange experiences and reflect on the activities carried out in Belgium and Tenerife. The Multiplier Event was a wonderful opportunity to share the project with a wider audience and highlight the importance of a holistic approach to active ageing.

Through digital inclusion, well-being, creativity, and social connection, the project supports older adults — including those with migrant backgrounds — to feel more confident, connected, and engaged in their communities.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a meaningful event!
