Welcome Home International seeks to find innovative, progressive methods to support those in society who need a humane and warm environment to prosper. Integration involves may aspects and touches many people. We have begun planning and implementing hands on projects to create inviting environments for newcomers and local community members to acquire the tools and information needed to help integration happen naturally.

Welcome Home International is a partner in “Innovate, Integrate, Empower: A Holistic Approach to Supporting Migrant Women”—an Erasmus+ adult education project coordinated by CPIA 1 Foggia in Italy.
The project brings together complementary approaches to supporting migrant women:
💛 Psychosocial support and well-being
💻 Digital skills, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities
🎨 Art-based activities for social integration
By connecting these areas, IIE aims to support women in building confidence, developing skills and participating in their communities.

💚 Sometimes confidence begins with knowing you have support.

Reflecting on a challenging part of the mountain path, Roberto wrote:

His words show how much the group experience mattered during MOUNTAIN’s Training of Trainers. For youth workers, this invites reflection on how we prepare activities, offer reassurance and respect each person’s pace. With thoughtful preparation and support, a challenge can become an opportunity to discover new confidence.

💬 How can local communities make civic participation more accessible to migrant women?

This October, CIVICDESIGN4HER’s digital round tables will bring together perspectives on the barriers women face and the practical changes that could help.

Welcome Home International is preparing the Belgian discussion, exploring questions such as:
🔹 Who makes the local decisions that affect migrant women?
🔹 How can information about institutions and services become easier to understand?
🔹 What would help women feel welcome and able to participate?

The priorities identified will help shape the project’s Action Kit and future Living Labs workshops, connecting local experience with practical learning tools.

We look forward to listening, exchanging ideas and developing solutions together.

From 23–25 November 2026, Welcome Home International will join project partners for our next international learning, teaching and training activity.

The focus will be social and cultural adaptation, exploring how creative activities can support migrant women in building connections, expressing themselves and finding a sense of belonging.

This gathering will give us another opportunity to learn from one another and exchange practical approaches to inclusive adult education.

🏔️ Learning, belonging and growing together.

MOUNTAIN is an Erasmus+ Youth project exploring how outdoor learning and non-formal education in mountain settings can support young people’s wellbeing, inclusion and personal growth.

Our Training of Trainers in Bergamo and at Rifugio Curò brought partners from Italy, Spain and Belgium together to experience these approaches and reflect on how to use them in youth work.

This October, we’re sharing participants’ reflections—from teamwork and confidence to connections that cross borders. Follow along!

🌍 NextGen-GP partners are getting ready to meet in Tenerife!
From 30 November–2 December 2026, Welcome Home International will join partners from Spain, Greece and Poland for our upcoming learning, teaching and training activity and in-person kick-off.
Next Generation Grandparents explores how grandparents and grandchildren can learn together through creativity, technology and activities that support well-being. 💛
The gathering will help us exchange ideas, strengthen our collaboration and plan the next stages of the project—from understanding families’ needs to developing practical intergenerational learning activities.
We look forward to bringing our different experiences together!

Barbara is the founder and director of Welcome Home International (WHI). Since 2015, she has provided on-the-ground support to refugees in Belgium, France and Greece, including accommodation, administrative assistance and humanitarian aid. She now holds leadership roles in numerous EU-funded initiatives supporting the inclusion and integration of migrants and refugees across Europe.

📘 Our Cultural Adaptation and Handicrafts Guide is nearly ready!

The partners of the Art-Based Solutions for the Social Integration of Migrant Women project are now completing the final stages of the project guidebook.

The guide brings together practical activities, methods and educational resources that use art, handicrafts and wellbeing practices to support migrant women’s cultural adaptation, confidence, psychosocial well-being and social participation.

Today, we are sharing one of the meditation videos created for Module 2: Psychosocial Support and Occupational Therapy. The video provides a practical example of how guided meditation can be used to encourage relaxation, self-awareness and emotional well-being.

Next month, the project partners will organise local piloting activities with members of the target group. These sessions will allow us to test the guidebook activities, collect participant feedback and make the final improvements before publication.

💬 CivicDesign4HER Digital Roundtables begin next month

Next month, the CivicDesign4HER partners will begin hosting Digital Roundtables in each participating country.

These online discussions will bring together up to 10 stakeholders and members of the project’s Local Expert Groups to explore the barriers that migrant women encounter when trying to participate in civic and community life.

Participants will discuss challenges such as:

🔹 Language and access to information
🔹 Limited representation in decision-making
🔹 Legal and administrative obstacles
🔹 Caring responsibilities and lack of time
🔹 Digital exclusion
🔹 Discrimination, trust and unequal power relationships

The roundtables will create space for shared reflection between educators, migrant organisations, civil-society representatives, local experts and other relevant stakeholders.

The insights gathered will help the partnership understand each local context and will contribute to the development of the CivicDesign4HER Action Toolkit and the project’s Living Labs. These activities aim to move beyond simply identifying barriers by supporting stakeholders and migrant women to co-create practical and inclusive responses.

We look forward to beginning these important conversations!

🎉 We are delighted to announce that NextGen-GP has been approved!

Our new Erasmus+ project, Next Generation Grandparents: Enhancing Grandparent–Grandchild Bonds through Creativity, Technologies and Sports, officially began on 1 September 2026.

Over the next two years, partners from Spain, Greece, Belgium and Poland will work together to strengthen relationships between grandparents and grandchildren aged 5–12.

Through creativity, accessible technology, storytelling, physical activity and well-being, the project will transform time spent together into opportunities for learning, connection and fun. It will also support seniors in developing greater digital confidence, remaining socially active and sharing their knowledge, memories and cultural heritage with younger generations.

Among the project results will be:

✨ An educational toolkit with 24 practical activity cards
💻 An accessible interactive digital hub
📚 Resources and training for adult educators
🤝 Local pilot activities involving seniors and children
🌍 Community events promoting active ageing and intergenerational learning
