🛑 The , which entered into force on the 12th of August, was meant to simplify: one EU rulebook instead of 27 national ones. But read together with the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), the same product ends up regulated twice: once as a product, once as its packaging, often with separate digital identifiers, separate registries, separate compliance logic.

Add CBAM, EUDR, and CSRD, and a single SME can be looking at €5,000-15,000 in adaptation costs before it sells a single unit. With key delegated acts still missing, companies are being asked to comply with a rulebook that isn't finished.

European Entrepreneurs calls for:
➡️ A moratorium on penalties until the rules are actually final
➡️ A stock safeguard clause for packaging already produced or purchased
➡️ One interoperable digital data layer for PPWR and ESPR - no duplicate QR codes or passports
➡️ Consistent SME and Small Mid-Cap treatment across both regulations
➡️ A consolidated delegated-act calendar with real transition time

Simplification was the promise. Right now, businesses are getting the opposite.

After a day focused on the question of how Europe gets back to growth, it’s time to continue the conversation in a more relaxed setting.

The SME Summer Party 2026 brings the SME2B Business Forum Europe 2026 to a close with bubbles, BBQ, a full buffet and, above all, a room full of entrepreneurs, SMEs, Mid-Caps, policymakers and friends of European business.

The Forum is where ideas are challenged, and proposals take shape. The Summer Party is where conversations continue, introductions happen, and new partnerships begin.

Come for the Forum. Stay for the people.

We’re glad to welcome Borys Budka, MEP and Chair of the European Parliament’s ITRE Committee, as a keynote speaker at the opening of the SME2B Business Forum Europe 2026.

He’ll bring the perspective of one of the Parliament’s key voices on industry and energy policy.

Because Europe’s growth ambitions will depend on getting the policy framework right: affordable and predictable energy, competitive markets, and rules that allow industry and SMEs to invest, plan, and grow.

Yes to Growth…without adjectives!

the SME2B Business Forum Europe 2026 on 2 September in Brussels, we will put a simple but fundamental question on the table: Why ? And what kind of growth?

We believe Europe’s challenges become much easier to tackle when its economy is growing.

More growth means more private investment, more innovation, a stronger position against the US and China, and a broader tax base to support Europe’s common priorities.

But competitiveness will not come from more bureaucracy, more conditions or increasingly complex policy frameworks. Growth is created by entrepreneurs.

That is why we are calling for growth without adjectives: an economic and industrial policy that gives companies the space to invest, innovate, create value and choose the best way forward.

Europe’s , Mid-Caps and Mittelstand are deeply rooted in their communities. They know their employees, customers and suppliers, and understand the responsibilities that come with running a business.

Croatia's entrepreneurs just got a stronger voice in Brussels.

Glas Poduzetnika (Voice of Entrepreneurs - UGP) is joining European Entrepreneurs CEA-PME, an independent Croatian association of more than 20,700 members: entrepreneurs, craftspeople, self-employed professionals, and micro, small and medium-sized businesses.

What UGP advocates for at home is what we push for across Europe: a more competitive and predictable business environment, better regulation, adequate administrative burdens, and legal certainty - with a real seat for business in the policy conversation.

More members means a stronger, more representative voice for SMEs and Mid-Caps where EU decisions get made. Welcome, UGP.

We want more… Growth! One theme, one afternoon in Brussels: how does Europe grow again?

Here's how 2 September unfolds at the SME2B Business Forum Europe 2026 :

🟢 13:00–15:00 · Launch of a New Growth Agenda
Our market-based, SME-driven answer to Europe's stagnation goes on the table, the next step of our S.O.S. European Industry call.

🟢 15:00–16:45 · Open Space for Growth
No stage, no spectators. Entrepreneurs, SMEs, Mid-Caps and policymakers in one room, working on concrete ideas.

🟢 17:00–19:15 · GrowthTalks 2026
The tough questions on Europe's energy future and its next budget: costs, markets, the ETS, and where the money actually goes.

🟢 19:15–23:00 · SME Summer Party
Bubbles, BBQ, and the best friends of SME and Mid-Caps. The conversation continues, just louder. :)

📢 The EngageH2O journey is reaching its finale, with 20 more days to go, and we'd like you to celebrate the results with us.

Water is one of Uzbekistan's most pressing challenges. With resources under mounting pressure from scarcity and inefficient use, EngageH2O set out to raise awareness and drive collaborative action toward more sustainable water management, placing communities and citizen participation at the heart of the response.

Working hand in hand with local civil society and business membership organisations, the project has:
🔹 Strengthened the capacity of local organisations to advocate for inclusive, sustainable water governance
🔹 Opened up public-private dialogue between citizens, communities, and decision-makers
🔹 Raised public awareness through participatory video, training, and a documentary capturing the voices and stories of communities across Uzbekistan

Now we're bringing these results to Brussels. Join us at the EngageH2O Final Event to discover the project's impact, attend the premiere screening of our documentary, and explore opportunities for future collaboration on water resilience in Central Asia.

📢 Water is becoming one of Central Asia's defining challenges, and on 1 September, the people working to address it will be in the same room. The EngageH2O Final Event in Brussels welcomes two leading voices on EU–Central Asia relations:

Charlotte Adriaen - Head of Unit for Central Asia & Afghanistan, DG INTPA, European Commission
Giusi Princi - Chair of the European Parliament's Delegation for Relations with Central Asia

But policy is only half the story. The event also premieres the EngageH2O documentary, bringing the voices of communities across Uzbekistan into the room and turning a screening into a direct exchange between decision-makers and the communities closest to the challenge.
