🇸🇱: From 17 to 19 June as part of MEDIA Project, we joined our affiliate, the SLAJ Iverify (Sierra Leone Association of Journalists), in Freetown and met with ministers and union workers.

We welcome significant commitments made by ministers and government officials to address concerns over media reform and journalists’ welfare during a high level mission to the country.

📣IFJ General Secretary Anthony Bellanger who led the delegation said: “We welcome commitments from across government to work with the IFJ, SLAJ and the SLRU to ensure employers can no longer get away with breaking the law, not paying their NASSIT payments and failing to provide contracts, pay the minimum wage and abuse the labour rights of working journalists. This is a huge opportunity for the government to show it stands firmly for greater media freedom and the rule of law and we look forward to working with them to ensure there is real action in the coming months”.

From 17 to 19 June as part of MEDIA Project, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) joined its affiliate, the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), in Freetown. They met with ministers and union workers.

🇬🇲: Great move! Our affiliate The Gambia Press Union held a media literacy session for police recruits, fostering dialogue on press freedom, the media’s role in democracy, and constructive relations between journalists and law enforcement.

Well done comrades! We hope this session will help trengthen mutual understanding and respect between journalists and police forces, contributing to the protection of press freedom and safe working conditions for our colleagues on the ground.

🇵🇹: We took part in the 'Winning the Climate Narrative' session at the European Urban Resilience Forum (EURESFO), where REVOLVE launched a toolkit for climate hazard reporting and community resilience.

This toolkit is a free practical resource that helps journalists working for local and regional media to report accurately on the full cycle of climate-related emergencies. It is part of the Climate Frontline project, an initiative by Revolve and the European Journalism Centre (EJC) with the as an associated partner.
