EUROCAM

EUROCAM EUROCAM is the European foundation uniting umbrella organisations of patients, physicians, veterinari

EUROCAM´s vision is:
• Of a society which seeks the optimum health of its citizens largely achieved by encouraging and enabling citizens to take responsibility for the maintenance and promotion of their own health whilst also acknowledging freedom of choice in selecting appropriate treatment from a variety of healthcare options, including CAM. In addition, EUROCAM submits that citizens should have

access to reliable information supporting effective and safe health provision that includes relevant CAM options. CAM should be available, accessible and affordable at both national and European level.
• Of a paradigm shift that moves the focus of healthcare away from a primarily treatment-oriented agenda to one which also engages people more directly in their personal health and well-being thereby preventing illness and prolonging life. EUROCAM supports the notion of salutogenesis – that is to an approach that primarily supports human health and well-being, rather than focusing on factors that cause disease.
• Of a holistic approach to the maintenance and health care of European citizens that takes into account the psycho-spiritual, corporeal and social needs of each individual.
• That the best of conventional medicine and CAM are thoroughly integrated into healthcare schemes for the benefit of European citizens who are free to make an informed choice about treatment they require so there is no dichotomy in the delivery of excellent healthcare. This means that CAM should be integrated into:
• social, education and health policy, both on a national and a European level.
• healthcare systems both as complementary and/or alternative to conventional medical care whilst also having the opportunity of being offered independently and privately.

🚨 Urgent call to action: Help protect access to TCIH in Germany

More than 30 million people in Germany rely on homeopathic and anthroposophic therapies, including many living with chronic conditions or undergoing intensive treatments such as chemotherapy.

The German government is now proposing to remove these therapies from public health insurance coverage, which would significantly limit access for those who depend on them most.

The civil society campaign weil’s hilft (“because it helps”) is mobilising public support to stop this change.

👉 You can add your signature here: https://www.weils-hilft.de/jetzt

The petition will be delivered directly to policymakers, and anyone can sign.

If you live in Germany, you can also contact your local representative in just two minutes using the ready‑made tool on the campaign website. Every voice matters.

💪Let’s stand together for patient choice and equitable access to integrative healthcare.

Homöopathische und anthroposophische Leistungen sollen aus der GKV gestrichen werden. Informiere dich und werde aktiv.

👏 A huge round of applause for our Youth Delegate, Asli Yildirim, who spoke at on the vital role of young people in shaping the future of healthcare.

At this WHO side‑event on Youth Leadership in Traditional Medicine, Asli highlighted why youth voices must be part of decisions on how healthcare is developed and delivered. Healthcare that puts patients first and fully integrates TCIH approaches.

We are incredibly proud of Asli and grateful for the passion, clarity, and commitment she brings to this work.

If you’re 25 or under and interested in joining EUROCAM’s Youth Delegate Programme, we’d love to hear from you. https://cam-europe.eu/youth_delegate_program/

✨Our youth delegate Aslı Yıldırım delivered a powerful statement on the role of Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Healthcare in shaping the future of health systems - at the 79th World Health Assembly, during a side-event on Youth Leadership in Traditional Medicine on 21 May 2026,

Her statement highlighted key messages from the next generation:

- Young people want to shape the future of healthcare: not as symbolic participants, but as meaningful contributors to real change.

-Health is more than treatment: it includes dignity, prevention, balance, sustainability, mental wellbeing, and living a meaningful life.

-Many young people feel unheard: in systems that prioritise short‑term treatment over long‑term wellbeing.

- Interest in TCIH is rising: reflecting a broader demand for preventive, participatory, culturally responsive, and holistic approaches to care.

🔊The next generation is calling for people-centred healthcare that listens, includes, and responds to real human needs.

✨How can EUROCAM contribute to integrative oncology?

That question was powerfully addressed today by our Chair, Elisa Baldini, during her presentation at the ARTOI - Fondazione Ricerca Terapie Oncologiche Integrate. 2nd Congress of the European Society of Integrative Oncology in Rome.

Elisa delivered a pragmatic and concrete overview of how EUROCAM’s work, through coordinated advocacy with partners across Europe, can drive progress in clearly defined policy areas that support the integration of traditional, complementary and integrative healthcare approaches within cancer care.

Her intervention highlighted the importance of collaboration, policy alignment, and a unified voice to ensure that integrative oncology becomes a credible and accessible component of European health systems.

As with all EUROCAM Board Members, Elisa volunteers her time and expertise to advance this mission. Her role as General Secretary of the IVAA | International Federation of Anthroposophic Medical Associations further strengthens the alignment between shared goals and the broader movement for integrative, person‑centred cancer care.

We’re excited to welcome even more people as the congress continues.

ECH representatives Dr. Dora Pachova and Dr. Tiziana Di Giampietro are attending the 2nd Society for Integrative Oncology Europe (SIO Europe) Congress, held jointly with the 12th International ARTOI Congress in Rome from May 8–10, 2026. This international scientific congress, titled “From Ancient Wisdom to Modern Integration: Bridging Millennia of Healing,” brings together physicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals to share evidence-based insights on integrative oncology, emphasising personalised, multidisciplinary cancer care and European guideline development. The ECH team also visited the EUROCAM Medview stand to meet our colleague, Lasithiotaki.
