Are young women reshaping the IT workforce in Germany? 👩💻
According to a new data special by Tech2Stay, the share of women in ICT professions in Germany rose across almost all age groups between 2015 and 2025, with the strongest growth among women aged 25 to 45.
🔸 Women make up 22.3% of ICT workers aged 25 to 35, and 19.1% of those aged 35 to 45
🔸 The share falls to around 16% among workers aged 45 and over
🔸 Among 25 to 35-year-olds, IT systems analysis, user consultancy and IT sales attract the most women, at almost 30%
🔸 Software development and programming remains the least balanced field, at 17.4%
The progress is encouraging, but the gap remains. Tech2Stay, a joint project of Heilbronn University, the Competence Centre for Technology, Diversity and Equal Opportunities and the German Informatics Society, explores why women leave IT and develops measures to help them stay.
