Since the Active House Alliance announced in 2010 its vision of buildings that create comfortable and healthier lives for occupants without negatively impacting the climate, many other programs have now borrowed the same underlying principles. For example, the importance of daylight to circadian rhythms or the impact of fresh air on comfort and health of the homeowner. The news of third-party adoption of the Active House principles is the greatest recognition of our efforts. After all, the Active House Alliance is all about networking and knowledge sharing. The Alliance is a living platform which does not only codify rules and parameters, but above all works to inspire the design of healthy and environmentally responsible spaces. The certification of buildings serves as a confirmation of performance and the intangible but critical Active House values and principles as well.
