This was grand! ☘️
RREUSE participated in the opening of the Reuse & Repair Week in Northern Ireland and Ireland. The opening event was nothing less extraordinary than a Pop-up Repair Cafe at Belfast Grand Central Station.
The train station was the perfect venue for bringing reuse and repair into the public eye, even for people who would not actively seek it.

Each fix sparked a brief conversation - how to repair things and why it matters. It was people’s emotional attachment and common sense (or “using your loaf,” as they say in Northern Ireland) that drove them to choose repair over buying new.
Our Deputy Director, Jana Žůrková, joined the event to show support from our European network and learn from this good practice. It was an honour to meet the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, Andrew Muir, who not only opened the event but also actively took part and learned how to fix clothes.
Reuse & Repair Week ran more than 50 events across Northern Ireland and Ireland — likely the first of its kind in Europe. The campaign was launched by NIRN - Northern Ireland Resources Network, a member of our network, and this year received backing from Community Resources Network Ireland CRNI, another RREUSE member.
