Inequality isn't just about income. π It's about who gets access to education, employment, healthcare, and justice. It's about whether a person born in the wrong country, or carrying the wrong passport, can live a life of dignity. That's the heart of SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.
One of the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 10 calls on all of us to reduce inequality within and between countries. For IAIS, this goal is deeply personal. It speaks directly to the communities we work with every day.
In the EU today, nearly 4.3 million people remain under temporary protection after being displaced from their home countries. Non-EU citizens continue to face significant barriers to social and labour-market inclusion, even in countries that have made measurable progress. Access to decent work, quality education, and community belonging is still far from equal.
The data is clear: reducing inequality requires active effort. It doesn't happen on its own. That means investing in intercultural dialogue, designing workplaces and public spaces that genuinely welcome people from all backgrounds, and building legal frameworks that protect the rights of migrants and third-country nationals as rigorously as those of any citizen.
This is exactly what we do at IAIS. Through our programmes, we work to close the gap between aspiration and reality, supporting migrants, youth workers, organisations, and communities in building the skills and connections needed to thrive in diverse societies.
SDG 10 isn't just a global goal. It's a daily practice. Let's build it together. π€
