⚙️ ISTO in Action
Together, let’s make active tourism a key component of sustainable tourism strategy in Europe ! 💪
This year, ISTO joined the Active Tourism Coalition, led by the European Cyclists' Federation and gathering 15 organizations.
With the aim of strengthening the recognition of active tourism in European policies, ISTO has contributed by enhancing the sustainable and socially responsible aspect of active tourism.
The Coalition's proposals include :
🔹 to recognise Active Tourism as a cornerstone of European sustainable tourism,
🔹 to promote active mobility atdestinations,
🔹 to include Active Tourism-related data into tourism data hubs,
🔹 to position Active Tourism (EuroVelo, Greenways, E-Paths, GR footpaths) as a flagship element of Brand Europe,
🔹 to acknowledge the role of Active Tourism in protecting natural and cultural heritage,
🔹 to encourage business developments and innovations connected to Active Tourism,
🔹 to support integrated territorial governance models for Active Tourism,
🔹 to prioritise investments in Active Tourism projects in the European Union’s next Multiannual Financial Framework.
🤝 Thanks to the efforts led by the Coalition, ISTO hopes to see active tourism become a fundamental element of the future of tourism in Europe, combining low environmental impact and high social value with a strong connection to landscapes, cultures, and local communities.
