"Freedom, my friends, is the only homeland worth having." – Lorenzo Da Ponte

Set among vineyards, historic villas, and places of memory, the 19th festival edition features five opera productions, alongside new creations and fresh interpretations of the repertoire.

In 2026, nearly two hundred years after his death, Da Ponte returns metaphorically to his “second homeland”: the city of Gorizia and surrounding region.

A "Universe of Peace" is the motto for the 19th Campania Teatro Festival (12 June – 12 July) 🇮🇹
More than 150 events unfold across 14 venues in Naples, with the Palazzo Reale di Napoli at its centre. Theatre, music, dance, literature, film and visual arts shape a month-long programme of premieres, exhibitions and international collaborations.

The opening day on 12 June already mirrors this breadth and density, bringing together distinct artistic worlds: Roberto Andò’s Krapp’s Last Tape, where Beckett and Pinter meet in a diptych that explores the relationship between words, memory, and power; Rosalia Porcaro’s Women to Be Thrown Away, a tragicomic reflection on artificial intelligence and human behaviour; and photographic exhibitions by Romeo Civilli, Salvatore Pastore and Salvatore Liguori.

Large-scale productions coexist with site-specific and experimental forms and historic anniversaries meet contemporary visions.

The 27th CCDF - Cyprus Contemporary Dance Festival brings companies from England, France, Greece, Belgium, Finland and Cyprus to the Rialto Theatre - Θέατρο Ριάλτο in Limassol (30 May – 21 June).
The programme moves between political urgency, bodily endurance and choreographic precision:

• Botis Seva’s BLKDOG: hip-hop work on youth navigating a world not built for them.
• Hervé Koubi’s The Barbarian Nights: Mediterranean histories of cultural encounter.
• Ermira Goro’s Sirens: desire, identity, and stereotypical gender roles.
• Elena Antoniou’s ODE: female strength and togetherness in movement.
• Jan Martens’ The Dog Days Are Over: precision choreography pushing bodies to the limit.
• Kalle Nio & Fernando Melo’s Tempo: time stretched, slowed, and distorted through dance and illusion.

ℹ Presented by the Τμήμα Σύγχρονου Πολιτισμού Κύπρου/ Department of Contemporary Culture CY with Rialto Theatre, now a new member of the European Festivals Association (EFA), the festival positions Limassol as a key stop on Europe’s contemporary dance circuit.
