🏞️ Still time to visit “An Odyssey between Past and Present—ShanShui as Theme”!

Celebrating the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium, this exhibition brings together 45 works by 22 distinguished Chinese artists, featuring painting, sculpture, mixed media, installation and video art.

Through contemporary interpretations of ShanShui—a central image in traditional Chinese culture—the exhibition invites visitors to explore the enduring spirit of Chinese landscape art and Eastern aesthetics.

The Jingdezhen Handicraft Porcelain Industry Sites were inscribed on the World Heritage List on Saturday, during the 48th Session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO in Busan, becoming China’s 61st World Heritage Site.

Comprising five component sites, they present the complete porcelain-making process and trace the development of Jingdezhen's handicraft porcelain industry from the 10th to the 19th centuries.

The sites showcase the profound influence of Chinese porcelain on technology, art and global cultural exchange. Jingdezhen's iconic blue-and-white porcelain and its distinctive motifs have become enduring symbols of Chinese craftsmanship and culture.

🏺 UNESCO adds Jingdezhen Handicraft Porcelain Industry Sites to World Heritage List

A proud moment for Chinese craftsmanship and cultural heritage!

On 25 July 2026, the Jingdezhen Handicraft Porcelain Industry Sites were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List during the 48th Session of the World Heritage Committee in Busan, South Korea, becoming China’s 61st World Heritage site.

Located amid the hills of Jingdezhen in Jiangxi Province, the sites preserve a complete handicraft porcelain production system that flourished from the 10th to the 19th century.

For centuries, Jingdezhen porcelain travelled across continents, inspiring collectors and craftspeople and fostering cultural exchange between China, Europe and the wider world.

Today, we celebrate the generations of artisans whose skill, creativity and knowledge have shaped this remarkable living heritage. ✨

🐵 100-Day Ceremony for the Two Baby Golden Snub-Nosed Monkeys 🎉

A joyful milestone was celebrated at Pairi Daiza on 23 July, as the two baby Sichuan golden snub-nosed monkeys marked their 100th day and officially received their names: Zhenzhen (珍珍) and Xile (喜乐) which are symbolizing brightness, preciousness, joy, and happiness.

Born this spring, the two babies belong to one of the world’s rarest primate species. Their arrival brings the number of Sichuan golden snub-nosed monkeys at Pairi Daiza to five, making the park home to one of Europe’s largest groups of this endangered species.

During the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Belgium FEI Shengchao noted that the birth of the two baby monkeys adds a special highlight to the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium, reflecting the two countries’ shared commitment to wildlife conservation and biodiversity.

Eric Domb, Founder and Chairman of Pairi Daiza, described these Sichuan golden snub-nosed monkeys as “little ambassadors of Chinese civilization” and reaffirmed the park’s commitment to caring for this precious species while helping more people in Belgium and across Europe discover its unique story.

🇨🇳🇧🇪 An exciting evening full of connection, stories and insight!😊✨

🌏 On January 16th, the China Cultural Center in Brussels hosted the "This is Shanghai: My Shanghai Story" lecture, with speaker Tobias Le Compte, a Belgian musician.

🏙️Tobias shared with the audience the story of how he fell in love with the city of Shanghai, from when he first arrived there in 2008 to today.

🎼 A musician by trade, Tobias has gained popularity on social media for something else entirely: in 2021, when he started learning the Shanghainese dialect, he decided to film and upload shorform videos to keep track of his progress. His account, "Laowai Tobias", now has nearly 300,000 followers!

🎭Today, Tobias is active in Shanghai's performing arts and cultural tourism exchange activities. He recently even took to the stage in the Shanghai comic opera, "Today's Name is Shanghai". His dream is to become the first foreigner to bring a Shanghainese language programme to the CCTV Spring Festival Gala.

💝"My love for China and for Shanghai isn't just because of the food," Tobias says. "It's also rooted in the richness of the culture, the friendliness of the locals, how safe I feel there, and how convenient everything is. No matter how busy they are, Chinese people will always offer their help and care to family and friends, and that has changed me in many ways."
