⚙️ Last spots available for our introductory CNC milling workshop with Mekanika !

On Wednesday 10 June 2026, MAD Brussels and Mekanika invite you to discover how CNC milling can support your creative projects at the Mekanika Lab in Anderlecht. Whether you work with wood, aluminium, plastics or other materials, this workshop offers a practical introduction to digital milling, regardless of your level of experience.

Led by Louise Dousset, CNC expert at Mekanika, the session will explore how CNC milling can be integrated into every stage of the creative process, from rapid prototyping to final production. Through demonstrations and practical insights, participants will gain a better understanding of machining processes and the CAD/CAM tools increasingly used in creative studios and independent workshops.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own material samples (wood, aluminium, plastics, plexiglass, foam, cork and more) to observe how they behave during the demonstrations and better understand the possibilities offered by CNC milling. The workshop will conclude with an informal drink, creating space for discussion, questions and networking.

Participation is free, but places are limited. The workshop will be held in English or French, depending on the audience. Register & read more info here 👉 https://mad.brussels/en/agenda/2026/06/workshop-mekanika

🕒 14:00–17:00, followed by a drink until 18:00

MAD Brussels connected Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles with Brussels-based fashion designer Kenza Taleb Vandeput, founder of Kasbah Kosmic, for the 2026–2027 theatre season campaign. The collaboration resulted in a beautiful collection to kick off the new season!

Known for her sustainable approach to fashion, Kenza designed various silhouettes for the campaign that seamlessly blend cultural influences, upcycled fabrics, and vibrant storytelling. Based on the idea of elevating workwear to a more refined professional garment, the campaign’s outcome is a powerful encounter between fashion, performance, and artistic expression.

Belgian-Algerian designer Kenza Taleb Vandeput founded Kasbah Kosmic in 2019, creating handmade and upcycled pieces inspired by North African heritage, music, art, and contemporary culture. Her work explores identity, inclusivity, and sustainability, and has been featured in exhibitions, installations, and international creative projects across Brussels, Paris, London, Amsterdam, and New York. Kenza is also a former MAD Incubator resident.

Here’s a sneak peek behind the scenes of the shoot! 👀 You’ll be able to discover the full project on June 4 at 7 PM at the Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles during the season presentation, and throughout the entire 2026–2027 season.

Take a look at the process and final result of a successful creative match between Loomi Textile and Win for Life! 😍

Last year, Win for Life and MAD Brussels launched an open call inviting Belgium-based designers to create a recycled capsule collection for the Win for Life festival staff using old Win for Life T-shirts and wristbands.

After a jury selection, the design by Loomi Textile was selected. Loomi Textile is a multidisciplinary studio founded by Elfie Poiré and Manon Gondek. For the capsule collection, they reinterpreted the circle from the Win for Life logo into a screen-printed pattern using the brand’s iconic colours. The collection was crafted entirely from old festival T-shirts and wristbands, which were deconstructed and reassembled into new designs. The result? Colourful, handcrafted, upcycled T-shirts with a sporty vibe!

Spot the T-shirts this summer at your favourite festivals!

We are proud of the Belgian design scene, and so is Sabato Magazine! Discover 30 names that prove Belgium is where the future of design is being shaped in this wonderful article by Iris de Feijter! ❤️

“We Belgians are Olympic champions at downplaying ourselves, but in design and craftsmanship that modesty is completely misplaced.” As the article notes, Belgium is bursting with design talent, entrepreneurs, museums, galleries, organizations, and creative spaces! The article features 30 names who are shaping the future through innovation, craftsmanship, and forward-thinking practices. We’re thrilled to see MAD Brussels featured among them! We should be much prouder of what Belgium has to offer in design, and we’re happy that Sabato is highlighting it! 🫶

Want to discover the full list? Read the article here! 👉 https://www.tijd.be/sabato/design/30-namen-die-bewijzen-dat-belgie-de-plek-is-waar-de-toekomst-wordt-vormgegeven/10658241.html

We zijn als Belgen olympisch kampioen in onszelf wegcijferen, maar op het gebied van design en ambacht is die bescheidenheid volkomen misplaatst. We moeten dringend trotser worden op wat we te bieden hebben.

OPEN CALL 📣 Turn pharmaceutical glass syringes into design objects or a furniture collection!

TRY AGAIN?, an initiative dedicated to exploring the creative potential of industrial reuse, is launching a new open call for designers and makers, with the support of MAD Brussels.

Starting from the observation that large amounts of industrial resources are discarded despite their potential, TRY AGAIN? invites creatives to work with a stock of pharmaceutical glass syringes provided by GSK. The challenge is to transform these components into reproducible objects or small-scale capsule furniture collections, where the reclaimed material remains clearly visible and intentionally integrated.

Selected finalists will be guided throughout the process by the designer Mathilde Wittock, supporting the development of their prototype and design approach. Beyond the object itself, this call aims to question current production methods and reframe these elements as valuable creative resources. The winning project will receive a €4,500 budget, while the two other finalists will each receive a €500 fee.

Discover more info & submit your application before Sunday 17th May here 👉 https://www.try-again.eu/open-calls/open-call-mathilde-wittock
