MAD Brussels and hub.brussels presented the work of 8 Brussels-based designers working in collectible design and functional art at the Belgian Ambassador’s residence in London as part of the exhibition 'Crossing Lines Through Art and Design'.

Through a networking reception, a dinner and guided tours, Brussels-based designers were introduced to galleries, collectors, the press and other key players in the British and international collectible design scene.

'Crossing Lines Through Art and Design' presented the work of Barbora Žilinskaitė, Joe Sterck, Lila Farget, Maarten De Ceulaer, Maxime Halot, Natalia Brilli, Nicolas Zanoni and Xavier Servas. This event was part of the Belgium is Design initiative, which aims to promote Belgian design internationally.

Charlotte Lancelot and Bram Vanderbeke are the winners of the 21st Designer of the Year Award, presented by Knack Weekend and Le Vif Weekend. Congratulations!

The award was established in 2006 by Biënnale Interieur in Kortrijk and the magazines Knack Weekend and Le Vif Weekend. To mark the award’s twentieth anniversary, the jury has exceptionally selected two laureates, each contributing in their own way to the development and international recognition of Belgian design.

Working across ceramics, silversmithing, product design, furniture design and lighting, the 20 laureates embody the diversity and vitality of contemporary Belgian design. To mark the 20th edition of the award, all 20 winners come together in an exhibition at MAD Brussels, celebrating two decades of Belgian design talent.⁠

Each year, MAD Brussels awards prizes to graduates from various creative schools in Brussels to support the start of their professional careers. Last week, the 13 winners of the MAD Graduation Prize 2026 received their awards from our business advisor, Peggy Acke, and Didier Wauters, Brussels Alderman for Economic Affairs, Employment, Trade and Municipal Equipment.

Chateau Resort designs one-of-a-kind landscape curtains with delicate appliqued patterns. paulineplusluis focuses on functional lighting, using simple and understated materials.⁠
⁠
Their work is presented in a set design by Louise Verstraete and Manuel Leon Fanjul. The scenography entitled 'Nouvelle Ruine' presents a display structure situated somewhere between architecture, a construction site and a state of decay.⁠

On September 25, 26 & 27, MAD Incubator residents paulineplusluis will showcase their latest creations at the third edition of Curated, the functional art exhibition at Mix Brussels! ⁠

paulineplusluis is a Brussels-based design studio founded by Pauline Capdo and Luis Bellenger. Through furniture, lighting, and objects, the duo transforms familiar images and everyday situations into pieces with strong narratives. Working with simple and often unexpected materials, they create playful, poetic and thoughtful designs that balance functionality with emotion, bridging craftsmanship and industry. ⁠

Pauline and Luis will present their work in a shared booth with Chateau Resort, within a scenography entitled Nouvelle Ruine, created by Hermitage Architecture, Louise Verstraete and Michaela Armani. Louise and Michaela are also part of the MAD Incubator. Nouvelle Ruine proposes a display device suspended between architecture, construction site and a state of decay.⁠
