🌍 That's a wrap on the CIDSE Climate Relay Dialogues!

What began in Belém has now concluded in Bonn, on the sidelines of SB64, and what a journey it has been.

Our final dialogue on assessing the current climate finance landscape in Bonn reaffirmed a powerful truth: meaningful climate action cannot happen without adequate, non debt creating, accessible and grant based finance. Participants agreed that the current climate finance doesn’t meet the needs of the people or the planet.

Dr Amaoh the AGN chair, emphasized that developing countries can only be ambitious with ambitious climate finance aligning to needs. Developed countries must meet their obligation under article 9.1c.

Musamba from Caritas Internationalis highlighted the intersection between debt crisis and climate vulnerability. Countries are unable to respond to their climate action or development needs because of a huge part of national budgets spent on repaying debt.

Carolina Alves from Insec highlighted mechanisms that risk deepening inequalities such as carbon markets which are considered part of the climate finance taxonomy in Brazil.

At CIDSE, we are proud to keep working alongside our allies, partners, and communities, amplifying voices from the ground up and bringing them into the spaces where decisions are made.

And this is not the end. As we close this cycle, we're excited to announce that in the coming months we will publish a collection of stories of change: a document designed to elevate community voices into international political spaces and inspire continued action for our common home.

Stay tuned as more updates coming soon. 💚

One week to go until kicks off — and we're ready. 🌱

On 8 June, CIDSE and partners host an official side event at the Bonn Climate Conference:

🎙️ Santa Marta and Beyond: Delivering on the Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels Conference — Civil Society and Government Perspectives

The Santa Marta process opened important doors.

🗣 Now we ask: how do we make sure its outcomes are actually implemented on the roadmap between COP30 and COP31? And crucially: how do we include the voices of countries that weren't part of the process?

This is the conversation that needs to happen. Join us.

📍 World Conference Center Bonn, Room Bonn

Partners: CIDSE | Fastenaktion | Germanwatch | Ateneo de Manila University | Native Amazon Operation (OPAN)
