🎤 Happening now at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026

FEHRL Secretary General Thierry Goger is moderating the strategic roundtable:

🚀 “Future skills and workforce for a green, digital, and competitive transport sector”

As transport undergoes rapid green and digital transformation, the discussion focuses on one essential question:

How do we ensure people remain at the heart of the transition?

Experts from policy, industry, research, and labour organisations are exploring:
🔹 the skills needed in an AI-driven transport ecosystem
🔹 lifelong learning and workforce adaptation
🔹 ethical and inclusive transitions
🔹 aligning digital innovation with sustainability goals

A future-ready transport system requires more than technology — it requires empowered people, new skills, and resilient organisations.

As mobility networks continue to expand, transport infrastructure remains one of the major pressures on ecosystems — fragmenting habitats, disrupting wildlife corridors, and contributing to pollution and biodiversity loss.

At the Transport Research Arena (TRA) 2026 next week, FEHRL Secretary General Thierry Goger will moderate the roundtable:
🎤 “Biodiversity in transport”

The session will explore how transport infrastructure can move beyond impact mitigation and become an active contributor to biodiversity goals through innovation, nature-based solutions, and systemic design.
Topics will include:
🌱 integrating biodiversity throughout the transport lifecycle
🌱 nature-based solutions for resilient infrastructure
🌱 tools and methods to reduce ecological impacts
🌱 restoring habitats and ecological connectivity
🌱 co-benefits for climate resilience and human well-being

🗓️ Thursday 21 May | 15:30–17:00
📍 Room G9-G10-G11

Speakers:
🔹 Elke Hahn (Bundesministerium für Innovation, Mobilität und Infrastruktur)
🔹 Sylvain Moulherat (TerrOïko)
🔹 Mátyás Hullár (Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. - Hungarian Public Roads)
🔹 Johan Rydlöv (Trafikverket)
🔹 Lazaros Georgiadis (Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH))

Transport and biodiversity do not have to be opposing forces — the future lies in designing infrastructure that connects both people and nature.

From climate change and ageing assets to cyber threats and geopolitical instability, Europe’s transport networks are facing an increasingly complex hazards landscape.

Next week at the Transport Research Arena 2026, FEHRL is proud to contribute to the organisation of the high-level roundtable:
🎤 “Strategic imperatives for Europe’s transport infrastructure in a changing hazards landscape”

This session will explore how resilience can be embedded across the entire lifecycle of transport infrastructure — from planning and design to operation, maintenance, renovation, and upgrade.

Key topics include:
🔹 climate adaptation and extreme weather resilience
🔹 ageing infrastructure and long-term funding challenges
🔹 cyber and geopolitical risks
🔹 infrastructure readiness for emerging strategic demands
🔹 research and policy priorities for 2027–2030

🗓️ Wednesday 20 May | 10:30–12:00
📍 Room E1

Speakers:
🔹 David Batchelor (SESAR Joint Undertaking)
