On Friday August 14th, 65 ACB members gathered on the third floor of the Roy D'Espagne on the Grand-Place, to view the Brussels Flower Carpet and Light Show.

For the 24th edition of the Flower Carpet, 160 years of diplomatic and friendly relations between Belgium and Japan were celebrated. From August 13th to 16th, the iconic Japanese artwork 'The Great Wave of Kanagawa' by artist Hokusai has been recreated using 500,000 dahlias, covering an area of nearly 1,300 square metres. The first Flower Carpet of Brussels was created in 1971 and has been a showstopper every two years on the Grand-Place since 1986.

As the sun went down, a synchronized sound and light show illuminated the square's historic Gothic facades, beautifully accentuating the flowers.

Due to high demand we have 2 dates available:

Saturday, 12 Sept 2026 or Saturday, Oct 3rd 2026
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM (CEST)

Called "a journey through time" and "a masterpiece", the Van Buuren Museum & Gardens is a historic house museum and garden in Uccle, a municipality of Brussels, Belgium. Originally the private residence of the Dutch banker and art collector David Van Buuren and his wife, Alice Piette, the property showcases a unique blend of architecture, interior design, and landscape art.

Discover the van Buuren Museum & Gardens, a gem of Art Deco architecture built in 1928. Immerse yourself in a meticulously preserved interior, home to an exceptional collection of masterpieces dating from the 15th to the 20th century. The gardens, true treasures of landscape art, transport you through time. A unique experience where history, art, and nature converge.

The Art Deco villa from 1928 unveils an exceptional collection of artworks, rare furniture, signed rugs, stained glass, sculptures, and paintings by Belgian and international masters from the 15th to the 20th century. This house-museum, a living testament to the interwar period in Belgium and Europe, offers a captivating immersion into artistic history. Outside, the typical Amsterdam School architecture blends seamlessly with an Art Deco interior, creating a unique ensemble designed by the van Buurens and renowned decorators. The villa thrives as a living conservatory, passionately preserving artistic heritage through its rich collection, harmonizing history and art in an enchanting setting.

Join us for this one of a kind visit and hear all about David Van Buuren and his wife Alice's passion for art, their life in Brussels and their direct ties to the US through their escape from Nazi-occupied Europe during WWII.
