This week, the 74th National Coordinators’ Meeting took place in Riga 🇱🇻

As the 2025 Award winner, Rīga welcomed campaign coordinators for 2️⃣ days of exchanges and direct examples of how the city is leading on sustainable urban mobility 🚋

Some highlights of the meetings included:
👉 Welcome remarks by Viesturs Kleinbergs (Mayor of Riga), Andulis Zidkovs (State Secretary of Ministry of Transport) and Marta Kotello (Chairperson of the Riga City Council Traffic and Transport Committee)
👉 Insights into Riga’s award-winning initiatives and achievements in sustainable mobility 🏆
👉 A cycling tour through the city, offering participants a direct experience of Riga’s cycling infrastructure, mobility points and traffic safety measures 🚲 - not even the rain could dampen the enthusiasm!
👉 Inspiring exchanges and discussions to help shape the upcoming September campaign 💪

A big thank you to the City of Riga for its outstanding hospitality and warm welcome throughout the event! 🙌

2025 brought inclusive, sustainable mobility to the centre of the conversation in 🇩🇪

On 20th September 2025, the local transport association organised a public training session designed to make bus travel easier, safer, and more welcoming for everyone.

🧓 Visitors were invited to step into the shoes of a person with limited mobility navigating public transport 👉 spotlighting everyday barriers and challenges.

Perfectly aligned with our 2026 focus on “Intergenerational Fairness” 🤝

EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK shines a spotlight on intergenerational fairness, building on the 2025 theme 💙

This focus invites us to look at how everyday journeys work for people of all ages and generations. From children and young people to adults and seniors, mobility should be available, accessible, affordable, safe and sustainable, regardless of age, income, location, gender or abilities.

Whether it’s public transport, walking or cycling, intergenerational fairness means creating transport systems that support independence, connection and quality of life.
