🔵 In Ancient Greek, 'Kairos' represents time: not time as chronologically defined, but the right moment to make a choice, to act with awareness and responsibility.

📄 On 14 November 2025, sixteen years after the first appeal, Palestinian Christians published "Kairos II: A Moment of Truth – Faith in a Time of Genocide". The document recounts the suffering of an entire people, victims of a violence that shows no sign of easing.

🕊️ Pax Christi International has accompanied the journey of the document since its launch, which took place while our delegation was in the Holy Land. Today, we are sharing a booklet, a useful companion to the reading of the document and to reflection on the nonviolent path we wish to continue pursuing, in our own 'kairos' towards a Just Peace.

The document is available in English, French, Italian and Spanish, and can be downloaded here 👉 https://paxchristi.net/kairos-ii-and-pax-christi-international-from-reflection-to-concrete-action/

🔴 In 2024, the United Nations recorded 41,370 grave violations against children worldwide, amid conflicts and violence. This is the highest number ever documented, and the figures for 2025 are already expected to rise further.

📄 Ahead of the publication of the Annual Report on Children and Armed Conflict (CAAC), 17 humanitarian organisations, including Pax Christi International, have signed a joint letter, published by Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict and addressed to the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres. The letter urgently calls for the full implementation of monitoring mechanisms and the publication of a list of perpetrators of grave violations.

🕊️ Every day, thousands of children continue to suffer the consequences of grave human rights violations committed in many parts of the world. It is essential that we raise our voices to protect innocent lives.

🌿 What does ethical land use look like in a world facing simultaneous food, climate, and biodiversity crises?

A 2025 study commissioned by the German Catholic Bishops' Conference offers a powerful answer: we need a systemic framework that integrates ecological limits, social justice, and global responsibility. These challenges can’t be addressed separately.

On Monday, 22 June, Dr Stefan Eisiedel — Scientific Secretary to the Expert Panel — will present the study's core findings and explore their implications for the EU's Common Agricultural Policy reform.

This is a conversation the CAP debate urgently needs. Join us.

📄 Ten years after the assassination of activist Berta Cáceres, the report of the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI) of Copinh Honduras sheds light on the networks of power that contributed to silencing those who defend their territories and communities. Despite the evidence, those most responsible have yet to be held accountable.

🔵 Pax Christi International reaffirms its commitment to justice and the protection of human rights and environmental defenders.

On 22 May, the 11th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), held in New York, came to a close without reaching a consensual final document aimed at renewing commitments to nuclear disarmament and strengthening transparency among States Parties.

Perhaps most concerning of all was the obstructionism shown by nuclear-armed states in preventing an agreement, despite the commitment of 189 other states that have ratified the Treaty and continue to cooperate towards the total elimination of nuclear weapons.

A delegation from Pax Christi International also took part in the Conference, reaffirming the urgent need for a world free from nuclear threats and promoting dialogue with civil society and international institutions.

Despite the absence of a final agreement, the NPT remains a cornerstone of nuclear disarmament. In her report, Mary Yelenick (Pax Christi International’s Main Representative to the United Nations in New York) reflects on the vital role of civil society in the path towards nuclear abolition, a journey that depends not only on institutions, but also on a shared commitment to peace based on the historical memory.

We welcome Magnifica Humanitas, the first encyclical of Pope Leo XIV, published on Monday 25 May 2026, with great joy and heartfelt emotion. ✨

At a time marked by profound change and new ethical challenges, the Holy Father invites us to reflect on the meaning of human dignity, powerfully reaffirming the values of fraternity and the common good.

The text places particular emphasis on the value of peace, also encouraging those working in new technologies to ensure that our most advanced tools are used above all for the benefit of those suffering from war. “Today more than ever”, it states, “it is important to reaffirm that the theory of the ‘just war’, too often used to justify every kind of war, now appears outdated.”

In the coming days, we will explore the encyclical in greater depth, sharing how Pope Leo’s words have resonated in our hearts and inspired us to continue moving forward in the spirit of Nonviolence. 🕊️
