The Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organisations (FEMYSO) expresses its firm solidarity with students in France and Belgium who are taking to the streets to demand better educational conditions, adequate funding, and an education system that upholds their fundamental rights. These demonstrations reflect the concerns of young people who are demanding that their needs, voices, and futures be taken seriously.

FEMYSO unequivocally condemns police brutality and the excessive use of force against student protesters, of whom a vast majority are minors.

FEMYSO calls on the relevant authorities in France and Belgium to take students’ demands seriously and address the structural challenges facing their education systems. Young people have the right to participate in decisions that shape their lives and to peacefully challenge policies that affect their opportunities.

Today, the European Parliament adopted a resolution targeting so-called “Islamist entryism”, including calls to restrict, discredit and defund civil society organisations.

We, European civil societies, strongly condemn this attack on Muslim and anti-racist civil society. Targeting organisations such as FEMYSO, ENAR and CCIE on the basis of unsubstantiated allegations is a dangerous step for civic space and a stain on European institutions and the values they are meant to uphold.

We remain committed to dialogue and constructive engagement with European institutions, while continuing to defend equality, fundamental rights and the meaningful participation of Muslim communities in European democratic life.

A day of conversations. A day of ideas. A day of action.
This was EADAI 2026.

From reimagining security and economic inclusion to putting youth voices at the heart of Europe’s future, we came together in Brussels to ask not only what needs to change, but what we want to build together. Young Muslim leaders, civil society, policymakers and allies brought different experiences and perspectives into the room, turning them into conversations, connections and ideas for action.

Because young people should not only have a seat at the table; they should help shape it.

What would Europe look like if young people most affected by racism were not only heard, but given the space to shape its future?

🗓️On 21 September, young Muslim leaders, civil society organisations and policymakers came together in Brussels for EADAI 2026, the European Action Day Against Islamophobia.

Throughout the day, we explored what it means to reimagine security, economic inclusion and participation in an anti racist Europe, and most importantly, how we can turn these conversations into action.

From discussions on rights and safety, to education and access to opportunities, to our Youth Anti Racism Strategy working session, one message kept coming through: young people should not only be consulted about Europe’s future. They should have a role in building it.

🙏 Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their experiences, challenged ideas and helped shape the conversations.

This is the Europe we want to build: diverse, cohesive, inclusive and grounded in equality, dignity, safety and freedom.💛

Applications are now open for our “Rooted in Faith: Christian & Muslim Youth Dialogue,” a study session organised by FEMYSO and WSCF in partnership with the Council of Europe!

✨ This five-day programme is dedicated to empowering Muslim and Christian youth to advance human rights, equality, and democratic participation by fostering interfaith solidarity and allyship to shape more inclusive and just societies for everyone to thrive.

Yesterday was a clear reminder of why the European Action Day Against Islamophobia (EADAI) is more necessary than ever. EADAI exists to bring Muslim youth, civil society, policymakers and other stakeholders together to confront Islamophobia and ensure that Muslim youth can participate meaningfully in the civic and democratic life of Europe.

This year’s conference took that conversation further. Moving from the interpersonal to the structural and from opposition to building something better, EADAI 2026 asked what needs to change for Europe to become genuinely diverse, cohesive and anti-racist.

These questions were at the heart of the conference. From “Reimagining ‘Security’ in an Anti-Racist Europe: Who Is Made Secure, and Who Is Made Suspect?”, to “Reimagining Economic Inclusion in Europe: Shared Struggle, Unequal Grounds” and the Youth Anti-Racism Strategy working session, EADAI was about more than opposing Islamophobia. It was about building a Europe where racialised communities can live with dignity, equality, safety and freedom.
