Working with Sheconomy, the initiative introduces the relaunched club to a wider audience and connects its activities with Equal Pay Day. It seeks to engage young professionals and women committed to equal pay, creating a stronger local platform for networking and advocacy across generations.

Why would you accept 11% less pay?
What does Gender Pay Gap mean? Women in the EU earn on average 11,1 % less per hour than men. That gap narrowed from 16.2 % (2011) to 11.1 % (2024). But: At this pace, equal pay is still generations away!

🟡 Raising BPW Europe’s Voice

Should you fear the Pay Transparency Directive?

The EU Pay Transparency Directive is changing the way we talk about pay at work – and its impact reaches far beyond reporting numbers.

For job applicants, it means more transparency from the very beginning: employers must provide information about the starting salary or pay range before employment.

For employers, it means being able to explain their pay structures clearly and transparently. Larger companies also face additional reporting requirements.

And for trade unions and employee representatives, greater access to pay information provides new tools to identify inequalities and support workers in enforcing their right to equal pay.

For BPW Europe’s Working Group on Advocacy & Agenda-Setting, pay transparency is one of our key topics. Because closing the gender pay gap requires more than a commitment to equal pay – it requires the transparency and tools to make that commitment enforceable.

A Special Recognition on a Day Dedicated to Peace

On this meaningful day dedicated to Peace, we are delighted to share some wonderful news from “Pinella” Bombaci.

Pinella has been awarded the prestigious “Livornese Oscar” (Oscar Livorno City) in recognition of her many years of dedicated service, commitment and contribution to voluntary associations — particularly BPW and Lions.

This recognition celebrates not only years of service, but also the power of volunteering, community engagement and the commitment of individuals who dedicate their time and energy to making a positive difference.
