Operating room nurses face a unique combination of pressures, from high-stakes patient safety decisions to complex team interactions and time-critical work.

A scoping review published in SAGE Journals synthesises evidence from 36 studies and identifies key psychosocial drivers of occupational stress, including workload, interprofessional challenges, and moral distress.

The findings underline a clear message: improving wellbeing in perioperative settings requires system-level interventions, strong leadership, and better team support structures.
