Following her internship at Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón in Spain through the EAHP SILCC programme, Irene Avila shares her reflections on an experience that has enriched her both professionally and personally.

What is the BOOST experience really like?

During the second edition of BOOST, we asked participants to share their experience! Last year, Merve S. from the Netherlands highlighted the value of addressing some of the major challenges currently facing hospital pharmacy in Europe.

And that is exactly what BOOST is about: bringing hospital pharmacists together around the topics shaping healthcare today, sharing experiences and turning challenges into practical ideas, guidance and solutions.

Earlier this week, EAHP was glad to participate in the event “From Report to Reality: Mobilising Nursing for Europe’s Health” organised by ESNO (European Specialist Nurses Organisation) and hosted by MEP Andras Kulja.

The discussions broached multiple points emerging from the initiative report on healthcare workforce recently adopted by the European Parliament, and highlighted the importance of a cross-sectoral approach to adequately address the challenges facing Europe’s healthcare workforce.

EAHP reiterated the importance of recognising that scientific progress is leading to increasingly complex medication-related challenges and more intricate patient needs. Addressing these challenges requires a multidisciplinary approach, sustained investment and improved coordination in training and education, sufficient staffing levels, greater workforce resilience and mobility, while promoting the highest professional standards and the best possible working conditions across all European countries.
