Reinsert captive dolphins in a semi-natural environment

🐬The captivity of dolphins in marine parks is controversial. Recent legislative initiatives in developed countries, are forcing marine parks to adopt increasingly stronger measures to preserve the welfare of animals. In addition, many activists organize and campaign to see the marine parks permanently closed. It is therefore likely that these will reduce-or stop, even gradually-their activities in the coming years.

But to date, there is no solution to ensure the survival of marine mammals if the parks that host them are closed. The vast majority of park dolphins in Europe were born in captivity - and they have never been able to acquire the vital behaviors to cope with the many dangers that the open sea presents: predators, pollution, intensive fishing, diseases ... The dolphins who have lived in captivity would be unlikely to survive, even if they were released into a protected marine area created specifically for them.

It is possible to find a new home for dolphins who have lived in captivity. A natural marine sanctuary, but protected, in which dolphins could be followed while renewing contact with the sea and regain some degree of freedom.🐬
