The following day, the European Parliament will vote on a proposal that could weaken EU rules on new genetically modified organisms (NGTs).

If approved, key safeguards could disappear:

โŒ No protection against genetic contamination
โŒ No liability rules
โŒ No GMO labels for consumers

For beekeepers, farmers, breeders and citizens, transparency matters.

๐Ÿ What happened in Brussels on 27 May was not a finish line, it was the beginning.

The official launch of the European BeeLovers Campaign opened a wider conversation connecting agriculture, biodiversity, consumers, institutions and beekeeping around one shared ambition: building a more sustainable future for Europe.

Through the next three years, the campaign will work to:
๐Ÿฏ promote the value of European honey
๐ŸŒผ protect pollinators and biodiversity
๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŒพ support beekeepers and bee-friendly farmers
๐ŸŒ encourage more conscious and sustainable choices

Because honey is not just a product.

It carries the aromas, landscapes and biodiversity of the territories that created it. It is the living expression of ecosystems, traditions, knowledge and care.

De Europese bijenteelt bevindt zich op het kruispunt van drie grote beleidsuitdagingen binnen de EU: het verlies aan biodiversiteit, de regelgeving inzake pesticiden en de duurzaamheid van de landbouw. Toch krijgt de sector nog steeds onvoldoende aandacht in belangrijke regelgevingskaders.

Op 27 mei zal dit panel het huidige beleidslandschap, waaronder de nationale strategische plannen in het kader van het GLB en de nationale bijenteeltprogramma's, onder de loep nemen en onderzoeken hoe beleidsmakers, wetenschappers en het maatschappelijk middenveld imkers en bestuivers in heel Europa beter kunnen ondersteunen.
