Our CISV Youth Leaders: Different ages. Different paths. Same commitment. 🌍

This is Stephan — Youth Leader

I’m Van Puyvelde Stephan, 48.
Writer, photographer, movie director, teacher…
I started as a CISV Youth Leader in April/May 2025.

With CISV, I travelled to Poland in 2025.

I liked the idea of sharing time with kids — that’s the best time to involve them in a good way of living.
“Take care and share” is one of my sentences, and with CISV we can apply it every time we meet.
It’s a good opportunity to travel and meet people from many countries.

If I could change one thing in the world through CISV?
More friendship, less capitalism…

Meet Bénédicte — CISV Youth Leader

I’m Bénédicte, I’m 27 years old, I work as an elementary teacher and I’ve been a leader for 5 years.

My first camp was a national camp, then Switzerland for a Youth Meeting, Poland for another Youth Meeting, Barcelona and Milan for Step Up — my last two camps.

In the beginning, it was to practice my English skills, but the peace education spirit interested me greatly because I’m convinced that the pen is mightier than the sword. I stayed because I found a family where I could be who I wanted to be without fear of being judged.

If I could change one thing, I would add more social diversity.

Meet Martin — CISV Youth Leader 🌍

Hi! I’m Martin, I’m 23 and I study journalism in Brussels. I’ve been part of since I was 11 and became a Youth Leader in 2023.

With , I’ve travelled to the US for a Village, joined Youth Meetings and Step Ups in Belgium, Mexico and Norway, was a JC in Belgium, and later returned as a Leader — including a Village in Barcelona and a Step Up in Mexico. Last year, I was staff at a camp in Belgium.

I joined because of my dad, who was also a CISVer, and I keep coming back because CISV is a place where you can truly be yourself and connect deeply with people from all over the world.

If I could change one thing through CISV, it would be people’s open-mindedness — CISV proves that we can understand each other despite our differences, and I wish that mindset existed everywhere.

Meet Clara & Léandre — CISV Youth Leaders 🌍

Clara here!
Hiya! I’m 21 and I’ve been a Youth Leader since last summer. I study musicology at ULB and I’ve been a CISVer since I was 11. I’ve taken part in camps in Spain, Belgium, Norway, and last summer I led four lovely kiddos in a Village in Forlì, Italy. CISV feels like a safe haven to me — a place where young people can feel heard and empowered to make the world more just and peaceful.

And I’m Léandre!
I’ll turn 32 this year and joined two summers ago while working as a language teacher in Brussels. I’ve been to Poland and Sweden with CISV. I love practicing languages and working with kids in a positive way, and I try to bring that spirit back into my classroom. I wish more organisations would truly live CISV’s pillars — let’s infiltrate them! 😏

Hello, new year!

We kicked things off CISV-style last weekend with a Family Day at the 🇪🇺

An interactive visit full of stories, values, and shared European moments. Educational and multicultural. Just the way we like it
We wrapped up with a friendly drink to reconnect, welcome new CISVers, and toast to the year ahead 🥂

Here’s to learning together, meeting across cultures, and starting 2026 as one CISV family.

A Weekend(Back) full of connection, creativity, and fun — the CISV way at .nekker in Mechelen! 💛
From our Speed Dating game to get to know each other, to the Protect the Egg challenge testing creativity and teamwork, every moment reflected cooperation and friendship. 🥚🤝
