🌏🤝 The ITUC participated in the Policy for Development Asia-Pacific Meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia, alongside a delegation from ITUC-Asia Pacific, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Nepal.
🗣️ The delegation brought forward the priorities of trade unions and workers, emphasizing that decent jobs must remain at the heart of development, the Global Gateway, and Just Transition initiatives across the region.
⚡ During the discussions, Rekson Silaban (KSBSI) highlighted the challenges faced by workers and trade unions under Indonesia’s Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). He stressed that, despite the significant impact on workers, trade unions have not been meaningfully involved in the process.
📢 Trade unions called for:
✅ Meaningful social dialogue and public participation in the design and implementation of the Global Gateway, with trade unions and civil society organizations fully included.
✅ A stronger social dimension in policies, with funding for training, worker engagement, and community participation—not only business-driven approaches.
✅ A united front between trade unions and civil society organizations to advance a truly just transition.
✊ A Just Transition can only succeed when workers have a seat at the table.
