❤️‍🔥Decolonising sexuality is not about returning to a pure past! It is about: refusing the idea that there is only one path to freedom.

❤️‍🔥And creating space for ways of being that do not need to be validated by dominant systems.

❤️‍🔥It pushes us to rethink what we assume is “normal”, “progressive”, or “liberated”. Especially in Eastern Europe, where histories of empire, socialism, and Western influence intersect, sexuality cannot be understood through a single lens.

Welcome to our new Secretary-General Filip Janković! 🎉 As a former CDN Executive Committee member, he strengthened regional engagement in the network, supported member organisations, represented CDN internationally 🌍, and helped organise key events like the Study Session on how economic barriers affect youth participation in Eastern Europe, as well as the General Assembly in Riga. In his mandate, Filip aims to make Eastern European youth louder 📣, strengthen member organisations, and build international alliances for a more visible and resilient CDN.

Big thanks to the outgoing Secretary General, Igor Skórzybót, who led us smoothly for the last two years 👏 when our network professionalised, adopted new documents such as the Political Platform and Internal Rules of Procedure, and got new grants, notably for the Environmental Consequences of War project 🌱 But we are not saying goodbye! Igor will stay in the office for the next few months to coordinate the kick-off of our new training programme, Taste the Change. Stay tuned! ✨

🔄 Now, we have a transfer period to ensure that we build on the previous work and experience when shaping the CDN future.

The parliamentary elections in Hungary will take place on 12th April. 🗳️🇭🇺 They could finally bring an end to the Orban regime that has been destroying Hungary's democracy and economy since 2010.

The results of 16 years of Orban's government are clear: increasing inequality 📉, low wage growth, massive corruption benefiting him and his apparatchiks 💸, infrastructure failing apart 🚧, underfunded schools, a healthcare system on the verge of collapse, kneeling before putin and trump and spying for russia.

Of course, the alternative, the Tisza party, is far from perfect, and its ideology is not clear. But the fall of the regime is needed for the democratic revival.

Dialogue – The Greens' Party of Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony does not compete in the elections, considering the change of government and dismantling the autocracy as the most important aim 🌱✊

🗳️ We adopted the two resolutions: "Enabling creation, preserving memory. For the progressive cultural policy for Eastern Europe." and "An end to violence against women and non-binary people. For a more feminist Eastern Europe", as well as elected the new Executive Committee and Secretary-General.

🏙️ We discussed the culture policy with our special keynotes, Latvian MP and Ministry for Culture . We also gathered the important insights on urban policy on the panel "Riga through the eyes of outsider".

Special thanks to our host organisation for perfect preparation! 🙌 As well to our amazing presidency!

🗓️ 4th April is the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. Throughout Eastern Europe, mines and remnants of war continue to pose threat to humans and environment. We need strategic support to demining and increase our awareness!

🇧🇬 united 31 young people from 13 cities, forming four action groups on waste management, energy justice, urban improvement, and youth mental health to foster community change.

🇺🇦 equipped young people with tools for advocacy and critical thinking, promoting resilience and civic participation.

🇨🇿 Their General Assembly in Brno engaged youth in elections and workshops, highlighting their vital role in green politics.

🇹🇷 The “Pathways to Resilience” project empowered youth through climate action workshops and encouraged participation in global climate strikes.

🇭🇷 A panel in Zagreb explored democracy and youth civic participation, leading to future initiatives like a podcast series to strengthen activism.
