As the PROFARM project funded by the reached its midterm, we are proud to see tangible results emerging across the Ruhango, Burera, and Gicumbi districts in . We see clear progress toward improved food security, better nutrition, higher incomes, and more resilient, climate-smart, and sustainable farming systems 🌱🇷🇼.
📌Key results:
• Increased production and sales of maize (22%), beans (31%), vegetables (24%), and sunflower (29%).
• 49 cooperatives accessing loans worth 59,000 EUR.
• 3 greenhouses with solar-powered drip irrigation systems installed.
• 3 x 50-ton capacity maize dryers constructed to reduce post-harvest loss
• 32 contracts signed linking sunflower producers to processors.
• Strong uptake of climate-smart agriculture practices, including improved seeds (97%), crop rotation (75%), ISFM (66%), and mulching (55%).
• Improved food availability and dietary diversity.
• Women represented 80% of adopters of sustainable agriculture practices.

We also thank the Rwandan District authorities, especially the Vice Mayors in charge of Economic Affairs, who play a key role in the project’s implementation.
During the remainder of the project, will support cooperatives on year-round greenhouse use, along with training on record keeping and financial management.
