We are in Lyon for the Teamup Project! 🇫🇷

Since Monday, the TeamUP consortium, including Johanniter Österreich, has been working together with first responders and CBRN-E experts during the project’s first Full-Scale Trial.
Over the course of the week, TeamUP technologies are being tested in near-operational conditions, from detection and digital triage to decontamination, medical follow-up and incident management.
A great opportunity to bring the project’s work together, learn directly from practitioners and prepare for the next Full-Scale Trial in Athens.

The July edition of our JOINews is out! 📩
This month, we highlight Johanniter International Assistance's humanitarian support in Venezuela and the aid of Johanniterhjälpen Sverige for Ukraine, new initiatives from our members in Hungary Johannita Segítő Szolgálat, and a successful Volunteer Swap experience with Joannici Oddział Lubuski at the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. Regionalverband Berlin first aid competition in Berlin.

On Wednesday, the Johanniter Emergany Medical Team arrived in Carracas to deiver crucial help to the victims of the earhquake, carrying 14 metric tons of medical supplies and medications. The EMT of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. includes two Malteser International medical experts and specialises in ensuring continuous outpatient care in disaster-stricken areas.
Due to extensive destruction and dangerous aftershocks, many people are now living in improvised camps or on the streets. Some have found shelter in overcrowded emergency centres. The situation is particularly stressful, and even dangerous, for children and women. This is why Johanniter International Assistance has also lanched emergency relief measures in Caracas. Hygiene kits and essential supplies specifically for women and girls are being distributed in emergency shelters. With their national partner AVESA Ong Johanniter are providing psychological first aid and psychosocial support, as well as counselling on gender-based violence.

Our Newsletter for June is out now!
This month highlights urgent humanitarian support from across the JOIN network. Following the severe earthquake in Venezuela, Johanniter International Assistance is deploying a 28-member Emergency Medical Team at the request of the Venezuelan Government and the World Health Organization.
We also report on continued support for Ukraine and share news from St John Association Cyprus - First Aid, Johannita Segítő Szolgálat, St John Ambulance Cymru, Johanniterhjälpen Sverige, Saint-Jean France and other JOIN members.
Under News from Europe, this edition looks at the Teamup Laboratory Tests in Vienna, the CPR training event at the European Parliament, the EU’s wildfire preparedness for summer 2026, and recent humanitarian and civil protection developments.

The latest edition of JOINews is out now!
In this newsletter, we look back at the JOIN Annual General Meeting 2026, hosted by Johanniter Österreich in Vienna over the past weekend. Delegates from across the JOIN network came together to discuss current activities, future priorities and opportunities for cooperation. We also report on the JOIN Fundraising Working Group meeting, which took place in Vienna on 29 May.

Johanniter volunteers support St John Malta at the Malta Military Games
At the end of April, four volunteers from the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. regional association of Hanau & Main-Kinzig travelled to Malta to support St John Ambulance & Rescue Malta with the medical coverage of the 2026 Malta Military Games.
Based at Fort Madliena, the volunteers gained valuable insights into the work of their Maltese colleagues, whose activities include first aid, firefighting and water rescue. During the three-day event, they mainly treated minor injuries such as grazes and blisters among visitors and civilian athletes.
The exchange offered a valuable opportunity to compare approaches, share experiences and build friendships across the JOIN network.

🌊 Volunteer in Finland at the Espoo Rantamaraton! 🇫🇮
Suomen Johanniittain Apu - Johanniterhjälpen i Finland welcomes JOIN volunteers to support the medical coverage and first aid services at the annual Espoo Rantamaraton from 17- 20 September in Otaniemi, Espoo.
Around 7,000 runners will take part on the beautiful seaside routes of Espoo.
📅 Programme:
Arrival on Thursday, 17 September; venue and medical setup on Friday; marathon duty on Saturday; sightseeing in Espoo and Helsinki on Sunday.
🙋 Who can apply?
JOIN volunteers aged 20+ qualified as advanced first aiders
Languages: English, Finnish or Swedish.
Accommodation, transportation, meals and good company will be offered
