(1)

The Lifelong Learning Platform brings together over 40 European organisations working in education and training. Together, these organisations cover all sectors of education and training including networks for higher education, vocational education and training, adult education and popular education; networks for students, school heads, parents, HRD professionals, teachers and trainers. The platfo

rm was created with the purpose of involving the different educative actors as closely as possible in the dynamics of discussing and implementing the policies and actions of the European Union. Its goal is to offer the possibility for the voice of European citizens to be heard on educational issues, and, leaning on the expertise of the networks that make up the platform, to bring concrete solutions for potential ways in which the decisions made by the European Institutions can be realised.

“Being active at EU level opens up many possibilities. If we could not be a member of an EU network, we wouldn’t be able to have an effect on European legislation.” 👥

Today, ‘The Power of Many’ shows the impact of collaboration. We hear from Pierre Gyselinck, President of the Belgian Disability Forum (BDF) and board member of the European Disability Forum (EDF).

Pierre explains the importance of representing people with disabilities in EU decision-making. He brings attention to the European Disability Card, a project that aims to offer tools for people to acknowledge their disabilities across Europe. Pierre offers insights into how this project, pushed by BDF, could only be put forward by belonging to an EU network. This way, shared commitments and collaboration helped BDF have an effect on European policy.

The ‘Voices of Millions’ campaign, coordinated by Civil Society Europe (CSE), showcases the role of civil society organisations in connecting citizens to the EU. 💬

Last week we were in Thessaloniki for the launch of the new European Framework on Lifelong Guidance at Cedefop 😍 🇬🇷

We shared civil society's perspective on lifelong guidance policies; the importance of putting the user, the learner, and not-yet learner at the centre of the process, to value transversal competences, how it contributes to the participation in lifelong learning and we highlighted how guidance is embedded in validation and recognition systems - Our Annual Theme for 2026!

Great to see so many familiar faces, and to meet new people!

How do we build resilience in an ever-changing global economy? It starts with education. 💡

On May 7th, our Director Brikena Xhomaqi keynote the Czepczyński Family Foundation Conference in Brussels. Her address, “Responding to Current and Future Societal and Economic Challenges,” moved beyond theory to address the practical role of the non-governmental sector, sharing examples such as the work of the platform as a network of stakeholders and its recent Horizon Europe research project 👉 STRIDE

Key takeaway: We must return to the heart of the UNESCO & Jacques Delors Institute “Learning: The Treasure Within” report. By focusing on early age interventions and the "learning to learn" competencies, we empower the next generation to navigate a complex world.

“Part of the work we do in Spain is channeling European knowledge, information, and opportunities to local organisations and to the people.” 📚

Change doesn’t happen alone. ‘The Power of Many’ is a new series under our ‘Voices of Millions’ campaign that highlights the positive impact of civil society on people’s daily lives.

Today, we hear from Brian Reyes, Support Officer for Volunteer Engagement and Partnerships, Observatory, and European Affairs at Plataforma del Voluntariado de España.

Brian reflects on how the Platform’s work is not isolated, but part of an interconnected net of organisations working for improved volunteering conditions. He stresses that, through volunteering work, volunteers acquire valuable personal and professional competences that should be recognised nationally and at the EU level. Furthermore, recognising the significance of volunteering has a positive impact on the broader society, increasing solidarity and stimulating social engagement.

The ‘Voices of Millions’ campaign, coordinated by Civil Society Europe, showcases the role of civil society organisations in connecting citizens to the EU. 👥
