📍Today, we open the EPR Annual Conference 2026 in Paris!

Our theme 'Building Active & Inclusive Citizenship Together: Services and Support for Persons with Disabilities' highlights a key message: participation is not built alone. It is shaped by the services persons with disabilities access, the communities they live in, the opportunities available to them, and whether their voices are heard in the decisions that affect their lives.🤝

Over the next day and a half, participants from across Europe are coming together to explore what this means in practice. From cities, culture, sport and leisure, to self-advocacy, , and emergency preparedness, we will discuss the many dimensions that make active participation possible for persons with disabilities.

Most importantly, we will learn from one another. Because building active and inclusive citizenship is not the responsibility of one organisation, one sector, or one policy - it is something we achieve together.

📍 Turin | Two intense days of collaboration and creativity!

Last month we were in Turin, where the transnational co‑design activity and the third transnational meeting of the Erasmus+ IDEA project took place.

Participants and educators from Italy, Spain, and Norway worked together to test, improve, and validate the prototypes developed during the experimentation phase.

The activities made it possible to gather feedback and suggestions that will be important for the development of the project’s second result: the IDEA Prototype Catalogue.

🎙️“Be my microphone, not my voice.”

At the EPR Conference 2026, our session 'Experts by Experience: Self-Advocacy' will place the perspectives of persons with disabilities at the centre of the discussion on active and inclusive citizenship.

Through personal stories and lightning talks⚡, self-advocates will explore what active citizenship looks like in practice - from independent living and voting, to employment, representation, and influencing decisions that shape their lives.

💡The session will also challenge participants to reflect on an important question: how can services create the conditions for participation, influence, choice and leadership?

Health economics helps us understand how to make the best use of limited resources to improve health, wellbeing, and social impact. It provides the evidence behind smarter decisions — showing what works, for whom, and at what cost.

For project developers and innovators, it’s also a game changer for demonstrating impact, strengthening business cases, and creating scalable, sustainable solutions.

The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities redefines citizenship as an active, right, moving from a medical model of charity to a human rights-based approach.

And what does it mean in practice? What role do service providers play?

For many persons with disabilities, active citizenship is still limited by obstacles in accessing key areas of life: from civic participation to employment, community life and beyond.

🗫 Join us in Paris on 4–5 June for the EPR Annual Conference 2026: “Building Active & Inclusive Citizenship Together: Services and Support for Persons with Disabilities”, organised in collaboration with Ladapt. We will explore the practices that advance participation, the challenges that limit it, and how services can better support equal citizenship for persons with disabilities.

🔎 Programme highlights include:
🔹Panel discussion on accessible elections, cities and community engagement;
🔹Interactive workshops on intersectionality, inclusive emergency preparedness, employment or access to health;
🔹Experts from lived experience: from self-advocacy, to involving persons with disabilities in the management of disability organisations;
🔹Mix of high-level plenary sessions and expert discussions, creating opportunities for both inspiration and in-depth discussion.
