On Youth Skills Day, we highlight the importance of training, upskilling, and preparing the next generation of researchers and healthcare professionals 🎓.
The SCARLET project supports this goal by strengthening expertise in childhood cancer survivorship through education, exchange opportunities, and international twinning activities 🤝

Through this approach, VUL Santaros klinikos and National Cancer Institute (Lithuania) strengthen their research capacity, help build practical skills, expand professional networks, and contribute to improving the quality of survivorship care in Lithuania.

Ultimately, SCARLET helps develop both people and systems - supporting a more skilled, connected, and resilient future workforce in health research 🌍.

The future of European health policy must deliver for children & adolescents with cancer🎗️
Today at the EUROPA CONNECT – Health EU Summit at the European Parliament, Prof. Ruth Ladenstein, Board Member of SIOPE and Coordinator of ERN PaedCan, brought the voice of paediatric oncology to an important exchange with leading EU policy-makers and advocates focusing on Innovation, Access and Health System Transformation 🏥

Her message was clear: children with cancer need child-specific innovation, research, and treatment approaches. Dedicated paediatric research and equitable access to new therapies are essential to turning scientific progress into better outcomes for every young patient across Europe.

As part of , we’re inviting young people affected by cancer across Europe to take part in a new survey on social connections, emotional wellbeing, and support during and after treatment.

Cancer can really change the way people show up in your life.

Some friendships get stronger.
Some people quietly vanish.
Some unexpected connections become everything.

As part of YARN, we’re inviting young people affected by cancer across Europe to take part in a new survey on social connections, emotional wellbeing, and support during and after treatment.

We want to hear about:
• friendships
• family
• online communities
• healthcare professionals
• the people who got it
• the people who absolutely did not

Your experience will help shape future support programmes and resources for young people affected by cancer.

🚀 MIREYA is officially underway!
This week, the MIREYA consortium held its first online pre-kick-off meeting, marking the start of a new collaboration to advance our understanding of how environmental exposures influence rare cancers in children, adolescents and young adults (AYAs). By combining population-based cancer registry, environmental, socioeconomic and multi-omic data with innovative AI-driven analyses, MIREYA will generate new evidence to support cancer prevention, reduce inequalities and improve outcomes for young people across Europe.

The project officially started on 1 June 2026, and we look forward to meeting all consortium partners in-person at the official Kick-off Meeting on 10 September in Milan. Stay tuned for updates as MIREYA begins this exciting journey!
