🎯During International Neuroblastoma Awareness Week, we raise awareness of high-risk neuroblastoma, which accounts for 15% of cancer-related deaths in children.

The project is developing liquid biopsy assays and a digital decision-support tool to improve monitoring for children with relapsed neuroblastoma, while reducing reliance on invasive procedures, improving quality of life, and setting new standards of care across Europe.

📢 What’s new from the ?
Last week, this project was showcased at the 5th International Symposium on Late Complications after Childhood Cancer (ISLCCC) in Genoa, bringing together leading experts from around the world to discuss survivorship and long-term outcomes after childhood cancer.

🪧Our poster was presented by Monika Kapitančukė, Pediatric Oncohematologist and PhD student, representing the SCARLET consortium.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share our work and to engage in valuable discussions on late effects and future directions in survivorship research. 🎗️

Today at the 11th Annual World Cancer Series Europe by The Economist, SIOP Europe was proud to be represented by Prof. Gilles Vassal in the panel discussion “Faster, Fairer Access to New Cancer Medicines.” The session explored how Europe can accelerate equitable access to innovative cancer treatments, address reimbursement and HTA challenges, and ensure that patients benefit from scientific progress without unnecessary delays.

Representing the paediatric oncology community, Prof. Vassal highlighted the importance of ensuring that children and adolescents with cancer are not left behind in discussions on access to innovation. His longstanding work in advancing access to new medicines for young patients reflects SIOPE’s commitment to reducing inequalities in cancer care across Europe. 🎗️

Thank you to the organisers, fellow panellists and participants for a rich and forward-looking discussion. Meaningful collaboration between policymakers, healthcare professionals, patients, regulators and industry remains essential to achieving faster and fairer access to life-saving cancer medicines for all.

Cancer can really change the way people show up in your life.

Some friendships get stronger.
Some people quietly vanish.
Some unexpected connections become everything.

As part of YARN, we’re inviting young people affected by cancer across Europe to take part in a new survey on social connections, emotional wellbeing, and support during and after treatment.

We want to hear about:
• friendships
• family
• online communities
• healthcare professionals
• the people who got it
• the people who absolutely did not

Your experience will help shape future support programmes and resources for young people affected by cancer.
