The African Caribbean Pacific Diaspora Youth Support Services (ACP DYSS) is a Not-for-Profit association of Diaspora youth in Europe from the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group of countries. ACP DYSS is registered under the Flemish Federation of Social Organizations (Federatie van Zelf Organizaties in Vlaanderen). Its initiative and core objective is to promote collective self-realization on Pan Africanism effort to ensure sustainable growth and solutions in ACP countries by employing its unique approach of re-education and working together. This would involve building the capacity of ACP Diaspora youth in Europe and UK for professional excellence, and development of ACP home countries in partnership with ACP country-based youth organisations.
The vision of ACP DYSS is to be the conduit and development catalyst of ACP youth in Europe, UK and ACP countries. ACP DYSS is intent on building an ACP Diaspora youth community who are professional experts, effectively working together with ACP grassroot youth organisations towards achieving collective self-realization of Africans and sustainable development.
Mission
Our mission is to engage the ACP Diaspora youth and grassroot in the development of ACP countries through re-education and working together to restore and showcase the Pan African dignity and ensure collective self-dependency. ACP DYSS aims to work with ACP Diaspora youth in Europe, UK, and ACP countries grass-root youth community development organizations to foster sustainable development of the region. In its development strategy, ACP DYSS aligns itself with the development policy of the target region.
To achieve this, ACP DYSS is guided by six key objectives.
To be the Conduit of ACP Diaspora youth in Europe for development activities in the ACP regions.
To promote Pan Africanism through re-education and working together with ACP diaspora youth and grassroot organisations to achieve collective self-realization.
To work together with ACP diaspora youth and grassroot for capacity building to respond to developmental challenges and encourage dependency on African effort for sustainable development.
Keep the ACP Diaspora youth informed about ACP regional development policy: This is done through representation in ACP briefings and forums. Access to the information is relevant towards writing development proposals which are relevant and can be funded by the ACP organizations.
Facilitate the design and implementation of joint development interventions with ACP grass root youth organizations.
To mobilize resources and facilitate engagement of ACP Diaspora youth in development projects: ACP DYSS will undertake diverse activities such as organizing sports events and social functions to mobilize financial resources for community development work.
In a nutshell, the objectives of ACP DYSS focus on three pillars namely: Re-Education, Working Together and Collective Self-Realization which would be carried out sequentially
ACP DYSS operational strategy is to engage the ACP Diaspora youth in Europe and ACP country grassroot levels to identify, design, implement, monitor and evaluate youth development interventions across the ACP regional communities in various disciplines not limited to: Agriculture and Food Technology, Education and Research, Youth Leadership, Governance and Development, Environmental Policy and Sustainability, Community and Public Health, ACP DYSS Youth Conferencing, Entrepreneurial Management and Innovation, Social Integration and Welfare.
The strength of the operational strategy is partnership, which promotes Pan Africanism, to ensure sustainable solutions and growth in ACP countries. It works with three pillars: Re-Education, Working Together and Collective Self-Realization.
At the first pillar (Re-Education), ACP DYSS identifies and partners with ACP diaspora youth in ACP region (local development organizations and/or community youth), Europe and UK to discuss the different developmental issues confronting ACP regions and to identify problems/issues that need to be solved.
At the second pillar (Working Together), ACP DYSS works together with ACP diaspora youth in Europe, UK and grassroot to jointly engage in project identification, research and project development activities (planning and design) to establish facts and findings in order to find solutions that work best.
At the third pillar (Collective Self-Realization), ACP country region youth and ACP diaspora youth in Europe and UK work together to monitor and evaluate projects, attain sustainable solutions at ACP countries grass root regions, advocates for integration and prosperity in host countries and in all achieve collective: self-realization, self-determination, and self-empowerment.
