Kom op zaterdag 20 juni naar de eerste Cinema Trottoir-voorstelling van het seizoen, tevens de laatste activiteit van het MANCHESTER IN JOY (een samenwerking met onze buren) Street Party en de seizoensafsluiting van Charleroi Danse.

Bij zonsondergang beginnen we met een openluchtvertoning van de Brusselse komedie Les Baronnes (Nabil Ben Yadir, 2025, 96 minuten).

SYNOPSIS: Fatima, 65, ontdekt dat haar man al tien jaar een dubbelleven leidt in Marokko, en haar wereld stort in. Woedend en vastbesloten om zich niet door het lot te laten leiden, besluit ze haar leven weer op te pakken waar ze het 50 jaar eerder had laten liggen, toen ze Hamlet zou spelen. Samen met haar beste vriendinnen Mériem, Romaissa en Inès, drie andere oma's uit Molenbeek, nemen deze "baronessen" een beslissing die hun leven, het leven van de mensen om hen heen, hun buurt en het hele land zal veranderen.

Rejoignez-nous le SAMEDI 20 JUIN pour la première séance Cinéma Trottoir de la saison, qui clôturera également la fête de rue MANCHESTER IN JOY (une collaboration avec nos voisins) et la saison de Charleroi Danse.

À la tombée de la nuit, nous projetterons en plein air la comédie bruxelloise Les Baronnes (Nabil Ben Yadir, 2025, 96 min).

SYNOPSIS : Fatima, 65 ans, découvre que son mari mène une double vie au Maroc depuis dix ans, et son monde s'écroule. Furieuse et déterminée à ne pas se laisser faire, elle décide de reprendre sa vie là où elle l'avait laissée 50 ans plus tôt, lorsqu'elle devait interpréter Hamlet. Avec ses meilleures amies Mériem, Romaissa et Inès, trois autres grand-mères de Molenbeek, ces « Baronnes » prendront une décision qui bouleversera leur existence, celle de leurs proches, de leur quartier et de tout le pays.

Furious and determined not to let fate control her, she chooses to pick up her life where she left off 50 years earlier, when she was supposed to play Hamlet. With her best friends Mériem, Romaissa, and Inès, three other grandmothers from Molenbeek, these "Baronesses" will make a decision that will change their lives, the lives of those around them, their neighborhood, and the entire country.

NL: Een andere internationale bijeenkomst van BRIDGING BORDERS maakt deel uit van de viering van het 10-jarig bestaan van Grigri PIXEL. Het evenement richt zich op migratie, gastvrijheid en de strijd tegen desinformatie. De aanbevelingen om steden gastvrijer en inclusiever te maken, zullen in Brussel worden voorgesteld. Daarnaast staat een prototypefase gepland voor november 2026.

Data en locatie: 19 en 20 juni in Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, met publieke activiteiten op Plaza Juan Goytisolo en Plaza de Lavapiés.

EN: Another international meeting of BRIDGING BORDERS will be part of the 10th anniversary celebration of Grigri PIXEL. The event focuses on migration, hospitality, and combating disinformation. Recommendations for making cities more welcoming and inclusive will be presented in Brussels, while a prototyping phase is planned for November 2026.

Dates and venue: June 19–20 at Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, with public activities taking place in Plaza Juan Goytisolo and Plaza de Lavapiés.

NL: We zijn verheugd deel te nemen aan Além Fronteiras (Voorbij de Grenzen) - het kunstfestival voor jongeren, georganiseerd door Aproximar, onze partner binnen het Pan-Europees project BRIDGING BORDERS. Het festival heeft als doel interculturele dialoog, sociale inclusie, creativiteit en actief burgerschap te bevorderen onder jongeren met diverse achtergronden. Zo creëert het kansen voor verbinding en wederzijds begrip over grenzen heen.

Kom gerust langs als je in de buurt bent op 19 en 20 juni, tussen 14.00 en 19.00 uur, bij het Cascais Social Innovation Cluster in Portugal.

Cette année, nous célébrerons la Journée mondiale des réfugié·es sur la Place du Béguinage à Bruxelles au travers d'un Community Festival autour de la musique, de l'art, de la cuisine, et de l'artisanat !

NL: Vandaag ontving Cinemaximiliaan het Internationale Beleidsteam van het Vlaamse Departement Cultuur, Jeugd en Media, en hun Europese collega's voor een werkbezoek. Het gesprek ging over de sociale en culturele rol van initiatieven bij het creëren van ontmoetings-, participatie- en solidariteitsruimtes. Hartelijk dank voor de inspirerende uitwisseling en de waardevolle dialoog.

EN: Today, Cinemaximiliaan welcomed the International Policy Team of the Flemish Department of Culture, Youth and Media, and their European colleagues for a working visit. The discussion focused on the social and cultural role of initiatives in creating spaces for meeting, participation, and solidarity. Many thanks for the inspiring exchange and the valuable dialogue.

NL: Vandaag hadden we gasten van ESPAÏ VZW te gast tijdens de FRIENDLY FRIDAY LUNCH. We hebben ook de samenwerking voor Danse Avec Les Foules festival in september besproken. Mohammed heeft vandaag Marokkaans eten gekookt; hartelijk dank daarvoor. En de kersen uit onze eigen tuin maakten het helemaal perfect!

EN: We had guests from ESPAÏ VZW during the FRIENDLY FRIDAY LUNCH today. We also discussed the collaboration for the Danse Avec Les Foules festival in September. Mohammed cooked Moroccan food today; many thanks for that. And the cherries from our garden made it absolutely perfect!

NL: Het was een genoegen om de deelnemers van het New European Bauhaus Festival, een initiatief van de European Commission, te verwelkomen in Cinemaximiliaan. Hartelijk dank aan het Molenbeek for Brussels 2030 team voor het creëren van mogelijkheden om contact te leggen, ideeën uit te wisselen en de inspirerende sociaal-culturele initiatieven te presenteren die Molenbeek zo'n inclusieve en levendige plek maken.

NL: Op 20 juni vieren we onze straat, Manchester In Joy 🎉
Je bent van harte uitgenodigd om vanaf 10.00 uur deel te nemen aan een dag vol evenementen met de buurt.

Er is een vlooienmarkt, eten en activiteiten voor zowel kinderen als volwassenen; een moment om samen te zijn, elkaar te ontmoeten en te genieten.

Om 16.00 uur is er een begeleide wandeling "Si t'y danses" met Charleroi Danse, waarna we om 19.30 uur een feestelijk diner met hen nuttigen.

De dag wordt prachtig afgesloten met een diner bij Charleroi Danse, gevolgd door een openluchtvertoning van "Les Baronnes" bij cinemaximiliaan om 22.00 uur.

You are warmly invited to join us starting 12h for a full day of events with the neighbourhood.

There will be a flea market, food, and activities for both children and adults, a moment to share, meet, and enjoy together.

At 16h, we have a guided walk "Si t'y danses" with Charleroi Danse then will be eating a banquet dinner with them at 19h30.

The day will end on a beautiful note with a banquet at Charleroi Danse, followed by an outdoor screening of "Les Baronnes" at cinemaximiliaan at 22h.
