JoNeF at the European Fungal Conservation Congress 🇪🇺🍄
From 14–17 April 2026, members of the IMPEL Joint Network for Wild Fungi (JoNeF) took part in the international congress “Fungal Conservation in Europe: Evidence to Action” in Uppsala, Sweden.
The event brought together researchers, public authorities, and conservation professionals from across Europe to explore how scientific knowledge on fungi can better support practical conservation and biodiversity policy.
JoNeF’s participation created a strong platform to exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation—particularly on integrating fungi into environmental monitoring, reporting systems, and nature protection strategies.
The programme also included a field visit to natural areas around Uppsala, focusing on habitats, fungal diversity, and conservation practices.
In addition, a JoNeF back-to-back meeting was held on 14 April to coordinate 2026 activities and agree on next steps for the current project cycle.
This engagement highlights JoNeF’s continued contribution to the European dialogue on fungal conservation and environmental governance.
