🌱 A year-round greenhouse at Orissaare School on Saaremaa Island is helping students learn about renewable energy by doing.

Developed in cooperation with the Saarte Energiaagentuur, the greenhouse is powered by solar panels, a vertical-axis wind turbine and, when needed, the electricity grid.

Students can monitor energy production and consumption online, collect data, and use it in lessons ranging from mathematics and physics to chemistry and natural sciences. The greenhouse is already being used by pupils, with tomatoes, pumpkins and flowers planted inside.

The project shows how Energy Agencies can bring the clean energy transition into classrooms, making renewable energy practical, visible and accessible for young people.

Climate adaptation is no longer optional but a critical process to strengthen resilience, protect communities, and enhance economic competitiveness and security in an increasingly changing climate. But how do we ensure coordination across national, regional, and local levels?

💡That’s where National Adaptation Hubs (NAHs) come in.

Established through the project, with FEDARENE actively involved, this initiative lays the groundwork for stronger multi-level governance coordination on climate action.

“To be energy secure, we must be energy efficient.”

As Europe navigates a new energy crisis, FEDARENE and its members are calling for one clear priority: keep energy efficiency at the heart of EU policy.

Why? Because it works:
✔️ Lower energy bills
✔️ Stronger businesses
✔️ Less reliance on imported energy

And without strong, binding targets, the investments Europe needs—like building renovation and industrial modernisation—are at risk.

📢 Europe’s energy experts are urging EU decision-makers to stay the course.
