English: Geekya is a new and a unique project from Fora vzw for musicians working within the Global Bass music genre. The studio has a double aim: on one hand it encourages and supports projects of professional musicians that prize experimentation, collaboration and creativity over commerciality. On the other hand the studio offers networking and educational activities for young upcoming musicia
ns, DJ's, producers. In the Global Urban environment, DJ culture has found a mainstream footing, particularly within hip hop and club circles. Young artists of different backgrounds have tended towards more homogeneous, global styles; a mixture of RnB, hip hop, pop and dancehall. They are often self-learned and have great technical skills. Geekya is created to support and facilitate these artists looking to experiment across genres and between indigenous culture and the global cutting edge. In a second phase we aim to encourage interdisciplinary projects between the underground music scene and the performing art scene, cinema and other Art scenes. D'une part, il encourage et soutient des projets de musiciens professionnels qui ont de l'expérience et favorisent la collaboration et la créativité. D'autre part, GEEKYA offre un réseau et des activités éducatives pour les jeunes musiciens, DJs, producteurs. Dans l'environnement Global Urbain, la culture DJ a trouvé son chemin, en particulier au sein du hip hop et de clubs. Les jeunes artistes de différentes origines ont eu tendance à homogénéiser leur travail et à faire des styles globaux; un mélange de RnB, hip hop, pop et dancehall. Ces jeunes sont souvent autodidactes et ont de grandes compétences techniques. GEEKYA est créé pour soutenir et aider ces artistes qui cherchent à expérimenter d’autres genres en mélangeant leur culture avec la musique moderne globale.. Dans une deuxième phase, nous visons à encourager les projets interdisciplinaires entre la scène de la musique underground et la scène des arts du spectacle, du cinéma et d'autres arts.
