📈 A growing model: cooperatives of self-employed workers.



While worker and social cooperatives dominate the CICOPA network, new cooperative forms are emerging to support freelancers and independent workers, offering them something rare: the autonomy of self-employment combined with the security of collective membership, through the mutualisation of risks, resources and opportunities

CICOPA se enorgullece de dar la bienvenida a tres nuevos miembros a su red internacional de cooperativas de trabajadores y sociales, lo que refuerza aún más nuestro compromiso común de promover el trabajo digno, la inclusión social y el desarrollo cooperativo en todo el mundo.

🤝 Genç İşi Kooperatif / Youth Deal Cooperative, Turquía
Fundada en 2015, Genç İşi Kooperatif apoya a jóvenes, mujeres, refugiados y otros colectivos desfavorecidos a través de la propiedad de los trabajadores, programas de formación y proyectos innovadores que impulsan la economía social y solidaria.

🤝 Cooperativa de Artesanía de Mujeres del Campo de Kalandia (KCWHC), Palestina
Fundada en 1956, la KCWHC es una cooperativa de mujeres pionera que crea oportunidades de empleo a través del bordado, la confección y la artesanía, empoderando a las mujeres al tiempo que preserva valiosas habilidades tradicionales.

🤝 Office du Développement de la Coopération (ODCO), Marruecos
Como institución pública marroquí que apoya al sector cooperativo, la ODCO desempeña un papel clave en el fortalecimiento de las cooperativas mediante la formación, el apoyo jurídico y la asistencia técnica, contribuyendo al crecimiento de un ecosistema cooperativo dinámico.

Juntos, estos nuevos miembros aportarán valiosas experiencias, perspectivas y conocimientos especializados a la red global de CICOPA, fomentando una mayor cooperación e intercambio entre las cooperativas de trabajadores y las cooperativas sociales.

Con estas incorporaciones, CICOPA representa ahora a 53 organizaciones miembros en 37 países, una red en expansión unida por la convicción de que las cooperativas son potentes motores del desarrollo inclusivo y sostenible.

Fortaleciendo juntos nuestro movimiento cooperativo mundial. 🌍🤝

El 30 de junio, CICOPA celebró su Asamblea General Anual de 2026, que reunió a miembros de todo el mundo para reflexionar sobre nuestros logros, debatir nuestras prioridades y trazar el camino a seguir para las cooperativas de trabajadores y sociales.

La Asamblea de este año estuvo marcada por dos hitos importantes:

🎉 La incorporación de tres nuevos miembros asociados a la red de CICOPA:
• Cooperativa de Artesanía de Mujeres del Campo de Kalandia (KCWHC), Palestina
• Office du Développement de la Coopération(ODCO), Marruecos
• Genç İşi Kooperatif / Youth Deal Cooperative, Turquía

Su incorporación fortalece nuestra red global y refuerza nuestro compromiso compartido de impulsar las cooperativas de trabajadores y sociales como motores de un desarrollo sostenible e inclusivo.

👏 También felicitamos a Mónica Fantini, presidenta de CECOP, cuyo nombramiento como vicepresidenta de la Junta Directiva de CICOPA fue ratificado durante la Asamblea General. Esperamos seguir contando con su liderazgo y dedicación al movimiento cooperativo internacional.

🌍 International Day of Cooperatives 2026 | Cooperatives Build a Peaceful World



This , the global cooperative movement comes together around a powerful message: “Cooperatives Build a Peaceful World.”



Worker and social cooperatives contribute to peace every day, not only by creating jobs and economic opportunities, but by strengthening democratic participation, social inclusion, and solidarity within communities.



Peace is not only the absence of conflict. It is also the presence of democracy, inclusion, social rights decent work, and opportunities for people to shape their own future.



Across the world, cooperatives contribute to more peaceful societies by bringing people together around shared ownership and democratic decision-making. They create spaces where dialogue, participation, and solidarity are put into practice every day. By promoting equality, empowering underrepresented groups, and combating discrimination and exclusion, cooperatives help build communities where everyone can participate and thrive. They also play a vital role in rebuilding communities in post-conflict contexts, helping to restore livelihoods, strengthen social cohesion, and give people a shared stake in shaping a better future.



Cooperatives remain one of the most powerful tools for creating a more just and peaceful world, and on this International Day of Cooperatives we celebrate all cooperators who turn these values into reality every day.

🌍 Marking the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development (https://www.un.org/en/observances/cultural-diversity-day), the ICA is reminding members and partners that nominations for the 2026 Cooperative Cultural Heritage List remain open, with the deadline now extended until 30 June.

This is a unique opportunity to help showcase the universal value of cooperative heritage worldwide.

Launched in 2025, the Cooperative Cultural Heritage (CCH) programme celebrates places and traditions that embody the legacy, idea and practice of cooperation. The list already features 32 sites across 25 countries, and the 2026 edition will continue expanding both its geographic and cultural scope.

From museums and legacy cooperatives to communities where people live and work cooperatively, the initiative highlights the diversity and richness of the global cooperative movement.
