🚀 The wait is over: The first TAC Manual is officially OUT! 🚀
Active Global Citizenship shouldn't be an afterthought—it should be a natural part of a volunteer’s journey.

Our new educational resource, Active Global Citizenship & Learning Paths for Volunteer Youth Workers, is a roadmap built from a 6-partner collaboration, AFS expertise, and hands-on volunteer experience. It's designed to help organisations guide volunteer youth workers and young people through structured reflection and maximize their impact as active citizens. 🗺️💡

EFIL General Assembly 2026 — Belgrade 🇷🇸
From 21 to 24 May, more than 40 delegates from 22 EFIL member organisations and different countries came together in Belgrade, Serbia for the biggest governance meeting of the federation. Days full of strategic discussions and community spirit. 🤝

Last week we had the opportunity to connect with the Generalitat de Catalunya in Barcelona through two sessions on Global Citizenship Education.🌍
On 13 May, we joined a panel discussion with around 20 ministry staff and educators, reflecting on the role of schools in strengthening the competences needed to participate in a culture of democracy.
On 14 May, our School Relations responsible delivered a keynote speech and ran a workshop with AFS Spain and around 100 educators and teachers attending overall. Together, we explored how to foster in practice, from values-based learning and intercultural competence to meaningful participation in and beyond the classroom.
A big thank you to the organisers for the invitation and AFS Intercultura España for the impeccable collaboration, and to everyone who joined the conversations. 💛

🇳🇴✨ European Youth Forum GA 2026
Last weekend, Andrew Ormsby and Josef Burker represented EFIL at the European Youth Forum General Assembly 2026 in Tromsø, Norway, this year’s European Youth Capital.
Together with European Youth Forum and nearly 100 member organisations, the Assembly elected a new President and Board and adopted new motions, including one co-signed on inclusive learning mobility and addressing visa barriers for young people. 🌍🤝🗳️
Great to connect with partners and keep pushing for youth mobility and non-formal education across Europe. 💛

📍3 days of training in Egypt. 🇪🇬
📍32 non-formal education trainers and members of EFIL’s European Pool of Trainers (EPOT).
📍One goal ➡️ diversifying the destinations of pupil exchanges and promoting youth mobility in the Euromed region thanks to the YMED project.

Trainers from the EFIL network together with colleagues from ILCS Rabat learnt more about the successful volunteer journey and hosting system of AFS Egypt, explored different methods such as theater of the oppressed, activities about stereotypes and prejudices, reflections about racism, xenophobia and islamophobia, and how to apply the concept of intersectionality when working with young people and training volunteers.
Special thanks to AFS Egypt for hosting us and organizing this unforgettable experience.🫶🏼

🇲🇦✨ Y-MED study visit in Morocco
Still feeling the energy from everything we experienced last week. 💛
From 16 to 21 April, we were in Morocco for the Y-MED study visit. Six intense days of learning, exchange and genuine connection across the network. 🌍
Y-MED (Youth Mobility in EuroMed) is all about strengthening our collective capacity to make youth mobility between Europe and the South Mediterranean more accessible and meaningful. Thanks to the shared values, we are challenging xenophobia and discrimination through intercultural youth work.
During the visit, our participants were placed in host families in Rabat, visited community projects, shared experiences, and explored the realities, opportunities and challenges of EuroMed youth mobility. Now, participants are heading back home with fresh ideas and motivation to develop non-formal education activities that will feed into the next steps of the project.
A big thank you to our hosts ILCS Rabat and partners and excited to keep moving Y-MED forward. This impactful project was made possible thanks to the co-funding of the Erasmus+ programme. ✨
