Eurocare (The European Alcohol Policy Alliance) is a network of voluntary and non governmental organisations working on the prevention and reduction of alcohol related harm across Europe. Eurocare (The European Alcohol Policy Alliance) is a network of 52 public health organisations working on the prevention and reduction of alcohol related harm across 21 countries in Europe.

Eurocare is proud to highlight the work of our member Alcohol Action Ireland, whose new report, "Childhood, Interrupted", gives a voice to children affected by a parent’s drinking.

More than 200,000 children in Ireland are affected. Their experiences remind us that, across Europe, children deserve safe homes and policies that put their well-being first.

No man is an island - and also the Faroe Islands are part of something bigger

Greetings from NordANs annual conference in Tórshavn, where colleagues from across the Nordic countries have come together to share experiences and perspectives on alcohol- and drug policy.

Today, Margit Stórá, Minister of Health of the Faroe Islands, joined the conference with a clear focus on prevention and health promotion.

The Faroe Islands may be surrounded by sea, but the challenges facing people’s health cross borders. So do the solutions - from alcohol monopolies and regulation of availability to evidence-based approaches to drug prevention. Sharing knowledge and experience across the Nordic countries is part of what makes this cooperation so valuable.

Thank you, NordAN, for an excellent first conference day, bringing together participants from all the Nordic countries and from across professions and areas of expertise.

Eurocare is proud to stand with Europe’s leading public health organisations on a simple principle: the alcohol industry should not set the EU’s public health agenda.

On World Heart Day, MEP Dario Nardella is hosting an alcohol industry-organised event in the European Parliament on the role of w**e in health policy.

The alcohol industry has a clear commercial interest in how the health effects of its products are understood. W**e and health should thus be a public health debate - not an industry-led one.

Eurocare stands with the European Heart Network, Association of European Cancer Leagues, the European Health Alliance on Alcohol, and the CPME in calling for health policy to be guided by independent evidence and the public interest.
