Mental health is not just about individuals -
it’s about connection.

Across Europe, more and more people are experiencing stress, isolation, and loneliness. But mental health is shaped by the spaces we live in, the relationships we have, and whether we feel we belong.

👉 Community matters
👉 Connection matters
👉 Prevention starts here

We need to invest in environments that bring people together - not push them apart.

Because mental health grows through connection 💚

Stronger Together, we can build communities where everyone feels supported.

Understanding your rights in mental health care is essential. Yet even today, they often remain overlooked.

Mental Health Europe’s Short Guide series aims to make key mental health rights clearer and more accessible to all.

Our latest guide focuses on informed consent: a fundamental principle that ensures care is based on choice, understanding, and respect for human rights.

It also raises an important question: what do we really mean by informed consent in practice?

This short guide provides a clear and accessible overview to support individuals, practitioners, and stakeholders in better understanding this essential right.

⚖️ As Europe prepares its renewed Gender Equality Strategy ahead of International Women’s Day, one issue cannot stay separate: mental health.

We may believe in equality, but equality doesn’t mean everyone starts from the same place nor has the same opportunities. Gender, life experiences and social conditions shape wellbeing. Policy needs to recognise that reality.

Our new report, Rethink to Rebuild, shows that decisions on housing, care, poverty, work and equality policies directly shape people’s wellbeing. When these areas are addressed in silos, inequalities persist, and mental health gaps widen.

“Mental health policy cannot be separated from social policy.”

🧩 This is a moment for the EU to connect the dots.

A gender-just approach to mental health is not an add-on to equality policy — it is essential to making it work.
