Erasmus+ is in danger! The funding for the future programme risks to be reduced, and this means less funding for our common European future! 🚨

--- What is happening? ✂️

In 2028, the EU will have a new budget for the Erasmus+ programme for seven years. The Member States and the EU institutions are currently negotiating this budget.
The European Commission started by proposing 40.8 billion EUR for Erasmus+. Compared to our current budget - 26.2 billion EUR - this might appear as an increase. But due to inflation, and due to new actions included in Erasmus+, this is not a real increase. And the Member States now want to cut this further!

Education represents around 2% of the EU budget, and even though our future depends on education, decisionmakers have yet again targeted this sector for further cuts. ⚠️

We promote the transformative power of Erasmus+, its great impact in Europe from a social and economic perspective, but also highlight the fact that this is the EU’s most known programme and the fourth greatest achievement according to European citizens.

--- What comes next? ‼️

Member States are urged to ensure at least 50 billion EUR for Erasmus+!

Reach out to your Finance Minister at home and tell them how important Erasmus+ is! Reach out to your Finance Minister and tell them that education and training needs to be a priority!

On July 7 and 8, we held a training in collaboration with MUS-E Belgium at Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles in Brussels. Led by artists Patries Wichers and Isabelle Maurel, 11 participants explored how to put social inclusion into practice through artistic expression.

Over the course of two inspiring days, music, movement, brainstorming sessions, and hands-on artmaking came together to provide practical tools and ideas. Participants exchanged experiences and got inspired on creative workshop approaches that can be adapted for use with children, to foster social inclusion. The training introduced tools from the MUS-E® methodology.

A big thank you to all the participants for their energy and enthusiasm, to our wonderful Artists Ambassadors for sharing their experience and expertise, and to TWNB for hosting us over these two days!

As a proud member of Lifelong Learning Platform, IYMF was delighted to take part in this year's General Assembly, held in Brussels on 29–30 June 2026.

As Europe's largest network of organisations active in education and training, the Lifelong Learning Platform (LLLP) brings together more than 40 European organisations committed to shaping lifelong learning policies and practices.

Over two intense days, the network's membership reflected on the past year's achievements, took important decisions for the future, and welcomed new voices into the fold.

The discussions focused on some of the most pressing issues facing education today, including:
🤖 AI in education
💬 What is at stake in the current attacks on NGO funding
🇪🇺 The next EU budget negotiations
📚 The Competitiveness Agenda and the Union of Skills influence on education and training
🤝 The role of European networks in supporting and defending the education sector during turbulent political times

Gatherings like these are a powerful reminder of the value of collaboration. For an organisation working across borders, languages, and education systems, being part of a strong European network is invaluable, and we are proud to contribute!

From November 2025 to March 2026, Le Cinéma des Rêves project brought together a dozen of children living in an asylum-seeking centre for a unique journey of creativity, self-expression, and connection.

Through theatre, improvisation, and filmmaking workshops led by Loupiote and coordinated by the IYMF, the children explored their dreams, emotions, and stories while building confidence and creating meaningful bonds. The artistic workshops were paired with sessions of mental wellbeing, including breath work and relaxation to help the children feel grounded and comfortable before exploring their emotions through theatre exercises.

The project culminated in the premiere of a short film which took place on June 25 at the Centre d'accueil Croix-Rouge - Yvoir "Bocq", Belgium. The children wrote and starred in the movie themselves, and presented it to their families, friends, and the local community, responding to questions from the audience like real movie stars!

This project was made possible by Cera FR and Euroclear and was implemented in the framework of the IYMF activities co-funded by the EU.

The International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation shares in the profound grief of the family and friends of Ivan Hodač, long-standing Member of our Board, who passed away this Wednesday.

He was passionate about music and supported the values of the Menuhin Foundation with all his energy and charisma. While he was Head of the Time Warner Europe office in Brussels, he had decided to support our Foundation for its programmes of social inclusion through the arts. He loved our concerts, which he attended regularly with Inneke, his beloved wife and took part wholeheartedly in our activities, putting his invaluable expertise and networks at the service of our Foundation.

Today, we stand alongside Inneke, Nicholas, and Alexander in these painful moments. Losing a husband and a father is an immense loss and we share in this grief.

Ivan will remain in our hearts forever, with his smile, his lovely Czech accent, his energy, and his charisma.
