OBESSU OBESSU unites the national school student unions of Europe, representing students in general and vocational secondary education.

OBESSU is the voice of school students organisations and a driving force for transforming education in Europe

We represent their needs and interests and we fight for the advancement of their rights through democratic political processes, fostering inclusive spaces and dialogue, exchange of tools, and solidarity. More info - https://www.obessu.org/about/about-us/

From one room in Dublin to a network of school student unions across Europe.

In 1975, delegates came together at Trinity College Dublin with a shared vision: to create a pan-European organisation representing school students. That vision became OBESSU.

More than five decades later, our mission remains the same: empowering school students, defending their rights, and ensuring that their voices are heard in education and beyond.

This place reminds us that meaningful change begins when people come together with a common purpose. Today, that story continues through every student representative, every member organisation, and every young person working towards a more democratic, inclusive and equitable education system.

The fight continues. The organisation grows. And school students are more united than ever.

Nothing about us, without us! ✊

A platform. A community. A family.

We asked OBESSU members to describe what OBESSU means to them… and these were their answers ✨

Every word reflects the people, values and experiences that make our network what it is.

Now it’s your turn: how would you describe OBESSU in one word? 👇

📊Behind every great curriculum, there’s great research.

The Youth4Change National Reports are on the way! 🚀

Across our partner countries, our teams have been:
🔍Mapping policies, programs & civil society initiatives
🎙️Listening to young people in focus groups
🗒️ Analyzing hundreds of survey responses
🤝Comparing barriers, needs & good practices

Each country is producing a National Report capturing local realities - and together they’ll feed into the Transnational Needs Assessment Report, the foundation of our future civic education curriculum.

Stay tuned - the findings are coming soon 👀

From Košice to Lviv, OBESSU is there for all students!

Over the past weeks, we have been working together with Lviv Student Parliament and youth organisations, and of course our Member Organisations, through Voices of Resilience, our project funded by the European Youth Foundation.

Through discussions on youth activism, mental health, and digital advocacy in Košice, followed by meeting student representatives and local authorities in Lviv, these activities have helped us better understand how we can support Ukrainian students and strengthen future cooperation.

The European Mental Health Week is closing, and this series too 🎥

Over the past days, our members have shared their perspectives on how OBESSU can collaborate with schools to better support students’ mental health.

Different voices, different experiences, but one single message: students are the ones who know how we can actually support them.

Because they are the experts in every issue that affects them, and we must listen!

Thank you to everyone who took part 🧡

Everyone has different perspectives and experiences, but all our Members outlined a clear direction:
Students must be part of the solution.
