The Organising Bureau of European School Student Unions (OBESSU) is the voice of school students’ organisations and a driving force for transforming education in Europe.

We, as , represent their and and we fight for the advancement of their through political processes, fostering spaces and , exchange of tools, and .

During the past few days, we have witnessed the spread of , kicking off in France, followed by Belgium and spreading across the world. We therefore published a highlighting ’ efforts and to demonstrate our solidarity and to the School Student Unions, the Movement as a whole and all allies demonstrating actively their support.

We stand by all the students who are bringing these issues to the fore in France, in Belgium and any other country. We call on all National Authorities to act upon their democratic and human rights obligations and our message to all students across Europe and the world is ...

Two days of learning, exchange and local action in Molfetta!

On 30–31 October, Youth4Change brings together young people, youth workers, educators, civil society organisations and local stakeholders for a transnational learning experience focused on youth participation, inclusion and civic education.

Through interactive workshops, study visits, dialogue with decision-makers and exchange of good practices, participants will explore how young people can have a stronger voice in shaping more inclusive and participatory communities.

R.E.A.CH 2nd Edition slayed at !

Last week, we brought R.E.A.CH, 2nd Edition to the 25th University on Youth and Development in Mollina, Spain, exploring this year’s theme: “AI, Youth and Peace: Preventing cybercrime and digital harm through responsible AI governance.”

With 8 young participants from Bulgaria, Moldova and Romania, we explored the impact of digital spaces and AI on young people’s mental health, looking at both the challenges and opportunities they bring. Together, we reflected on how we can build healthier digital environments, strengthen digital literacy, and empower young people to actively shape a more ethical, inclusive, and peaceful digital future.🧠

A huge thank you to our amazing participants for bringing their ideas, energy and openness, and to our trainers Lauren and Mateo for guiding the sessions!

And a special thank you to the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe for welcoming OBESSU once again as a partner of the University on Youth and Development. We’re proud to keep on contributing to this space for learning, exchange, and youth-led action!

Democracy depends on authentic human thought, independent ideas, and emotional understanding. As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into our daily lives, it is essential to ensure that AI is developed responsibly, with respect for human dignity, democratic values, and young people’s rights. ⚖️👥

In this context, Daniela Veverița, a participant in OBESSU’s activity, emphasised:

“AI can be a great tool for logistics, but it should remain a rational programme, not a source of emotions, thoughts or ideas, which must stay authentic and human. Emotional intelligence should remain ours.” 💬

From one room in Dublin to a network of school student unions across Europe.

In 1975, delegates came together at Trinity College Dublin with a shared vision: to create a pan-European organisation representing school students. That vision became OBESSU.

More than five decades later, our mission remains the same: empowering school students, defending their rights, and ensuring that their voices are heard in education and beyond.

This place reminds us that meaningful change begins when people come together with a common purpose. Today, that story continues through every student representative, every member organisation, and every young person working towards a more democratic, inclusive and equitable education system.

The fight continues. The organisation grows. And school students are more united than ever.
