📊Behind every great curriculum, there’s great research.

The Youth4Change National Reports are on the way! 🚀

Across our partner countries, our teams have been:
🔍Mapping policies, programs & civil society initiatives
🎙️Listening to young people in focus groups
🗒️ Analyzing hundreds of survey responses
🤝Comparing barriers, needs & good practices

Each country is producing a National Report capturing local realities - and together they’ll feed into the Transnational Needs Assessment Report, the foundation of our future civic education curriculum.

Stay tuned - the findings are coming soon 👀

From Košice to Lviv, OBESSU is there for all students!

Over the past weeks, we have been working together with Lviv Student Parliament and youth organisations, and of course our Member Organisations, through Voices of Resilience, our project funded by the European Youth Foundation.

Through discussions on youth activism, mental health, and digital advocacy in Košice, followed by meeting student representatives and local authorities in Lviv, these activities have helped us better understand how we can support Ukrainian students and strengthen future cooperation.

The European Mental Health Week is closing, and this series too 🎥

Over the past days, our members have shared their perspectives on how OBESSU can collaborate with schools to better support students’ mental health.

Different voices, different experiences, but one single message: students are the ones who know how we can actually support them.

Because they are the experts in every issue that affects them, and we must listen!

Thank you to everyone who took part 🧡

One question. Many voices. One message.🎥

Throughout the European Mental Health Week, our members have shared their thoughts on how OBESSU can work with schools to better support mental health.

Everyone has different perspectives and experiences, but all our Members outlined a clear direction:
Students must be part of the solution.

Because real change happens when we listen, include, and act together!

🎥 The conversation continues

Many different voices, one shared goal!

As part of European Mental Health Week, our members are sharing their perspectives on how OBESSU can work with schools to support mental health.

Because better support starts with active listening!

Here are some other takes 👀

And more are coming soon!

A new series has just dropped, and we’re giving the mic to our Members.🎥

To mark the start of the European Mental Health Week, we asked:
“How can OBESSU cooperate with schools to provide mental health services?”

Because mental health is not just an individual issue, it’s something we build together.

Here’s what they had to say 👀

Stay tuned for more!

📍 The first transnational event of the Youth4Change project, the NEXT.GEN.FORUM, took place on 20–21 March at the Stadtforum in Dresden. The core aim was to empower young citizens on current issues that shape our present and future democracy, from the local to the European level 🗣️

On day 1, besides participating in a World Cafe and in a Policy Roundtable about youth participation, OBESSU conducted a Democracy Snowball workshop focusing on what democracy means to us and how we experience it in our daily lives. During the discussions, concepts such as “colonial epistemology” and “equal rights for all living creatures” emerged, as well as the idea that we must protect democracy because democracy protects us too 🤝

On day 2, we explored the “Ladder of Participation” model , originally designed by Sherry Arnstein and adapted for children and young people by Roger Hart in 1992. We proposed different scenarios and debated at what level of the ladder young people’s voices and ideas were actually taken into account 💡. We also examined where decision-making in our schools, municipalities, and communities is situated along the ladder, and explored how to ensure that young people’s opinions and needs are not only heard but meaningfully acted upon.

🌍Across Europe, youth participation in democracy is a key policy priority. However, many young people still see participation channels as distant and ineffective and lack accessible ways to influence decisions, despite being interested in social and political issues.

💬 Youth4Change believes in the power of young people to shape their communities and influence decisions at local, national, and European levels.

💥In order to identify the most relevant needs, barriers, and opportunities for youth participation across Europe, we are conducting a comprehensive needs assessment combining desk and field research.
Now, we need you!

📝 Take a short SURVEY (find the link in bio) to share your experiences, opinions, and needs on participation, education, intercultural dialogue, and media.

🤝Your input will help us design a more inclusive and impactful civic education program for young people across Europe.

💡 Be part of the change. Be part of Youth4Change.
