It would be unacceptable to all workers in all sectors and regions if workers' protections and social conditionalities were reduced in the CAP!

Instead, it's time to increase protections and especially to stamp out gangmasters.

Full support to EFFAT European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions!

Just three countries have met today's pay transparency deadline!

Women workers across Europe will continue to be left in the dark over pay discrimination as all but three EU member states are set to miss Sunday’s deadline to put the pay transparency directive into national law – despite being given a year longer to deliver.

Women workers need a ban on the pay secrecy clauses which have allowed unequal pay to persist almost 50 years after the EU enshrined equal pay in law.

Member states are dragging their feet: nearly half of them have still not even published a draft national law, and about a quarter have drafts but aren’t on track to complete the process until next year.

IF Metall and the trade union movement are standing up for Swedish collective agreements, for decent working conditions, and for every worker’s right to security and respect.

It is time for Tesla to come to the negotiating table.

Sophie Binet re-elected as La CGT stands up to corporate intimidation!

Congrats to Sophie Binet - CGT on her re-election as General Secretary of the CGT. We stand with her in facing down the disgraceful campaign of corporate lawfare being waged against her.

The support received by Binet at the CGT congress in Tours this week sends a clear message to bosses that trade unionists will not be silenced by vexatious legal threats. The ETUC calls again on national governments and the EU to stop the rising use of these union-busting tactics.

The ETUC also salutes the international show of strength against the far-right held at the congress. More than 100 trade unionists from 71 countries came together to send a clear message that the far-right speak for billionaire business elites and not working people – who will continue standing together.

It is time to end the free reign of gangmasters.

Solidarity with the demonstration promoted by the CGIL Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro and Flai-Cgil Nazionale tomorrow in Amendolara, Italy after the killing of 4 farm workers.

Immediate action must be taken to tackle blackmail, exploitation & inhumane working conditions.

⌛ Just three countries meet pay transparency deadline ⌛

Women workers across Europe will continue to be left in the dark over pay discrimination as all but three EU member states are set to miss Sunday’s deadline to put the pay transparency directive into national law – despite being given a year longer to deliver.

Women workers need a ban on the pay secrecy clauses which have allowed unequal pay to persist almost 50 years after the EU enshrined equal pay in law.

Member states are dragging their feet: nearly half of them have still not even published a draft national law, and about a quarter have drafts but aren’t on track to complete the process until next year.

The failure to meet Sunday’s deadline is a betrayal of working women, it represents a shameful failure of political leadership in the face of aggressive corporate lobbying.

The European Commission has stood firm and rejected the calls from employers to weaken the Directive and they need to hold Governments to their responsibilities to transpose the Directive.

Pay secrecy hands all the power to the employer and leaves women and their trade unions without the basic information they need to stand up for themselves.

The European Commission must act now – not in months – to save people's livelihoods and create new quality jobs after finally recognising the scale of the employment crisis facing Europe.

That’s the message from the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) following the publication of the European Semester Spring Package, which confirmed that hundreds of thousands of jobs are at risk in some industries, while others are facing a labour shortage.
Recognition of the growing crisis is not enough: workers need job protection, investment, and new rights. The ETUC says the scale of the crisis requires urgent measures, including:

👉A SURE 2.0 scheme to save jobs and production in the threatened sectors;
👉A right to training during working hours and just transition measures for all sectors through the Quality Jobs Act;
👉Increased public investment needed to deal with the high energy costs hitting companies;
👉The creation of stronger internal demand through collective bargaining and higher wages;
👉A genuine ‘Made in Europe’ approach as part of the Industrial Accelerator Act.
