AI is already changing how young people will study, work and make decisions. Understanding how it is built, and where ethics fits in, is becoming part of basic future readiness.

In Dresden, Rebekka Weiß from Microsoft Germany and Horst Karlsberg from HP brought that conversation directly to young participants of YMCA Roots Ecosystem's Generation Next Summer School, connecting frontier technology with the real questions they will face in education, careers and everyday life.

Inspiration coming in hot from Bulgaria! 🇧🇬✨

The ИМКА Габрово Digital Hub is showing us what happens when technology meets youth empowerment! 💻🔥

Through the YMCA Europe & HP Digital Hubs initiative, they’ve been equipping local youth with digital tools, AI literacy, and HP LIFE courses. And the results speak for themselves:

🎤 Meet Denitsa! She completed the HP LIFE Effective Presentations course to build her public speaking confidence—skills she’s taking with her on a student exchange to Germany and into her future career!

👕 Local Partnership in Action: During recent AI workshops, the hub connected with a young local entrepreneur who is now designing and supplying custom t-shirts for YMCA youth camps!

This is the power of our hubs: building confidence, supporting young entrepreneurs, and strengthening our local communities.

Shoutout to the YMCA Gabrovo team for creating such an incredible space for young leaders to thrive! 🙌

The Generation Next Summer School is going digital! For the next two days, our participants will discover how democracy is shaped by digital technologies, and how communities experience these shifts on the ground.

Through discussions with industry experts, interactive learning and practical exercises, Dresden is the place to be to take the next step in your digital advocacy journey!

🔻YMCA Youth camps can strengthen confidence, empathy, self-esteem, and young people’s readiness to contribute to their communities, especially when supported by caring youth workers and group leaders.

Through interactive games, teamwork, English-language activities, and and creative tasks, campers at YMCA Plzeň-Starý Plzenec in the Czech Republic are building confidence and developing their communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.

The programme also creates space for young people to develop digital skills through research, creative content, storytelling, and collaborative learning—helping them use technology as a tool for participation, expression, and community engagement. 💻✨

💙 Introducing Stronger Ys

🔻Stronger Ys is a three-year YMCA Ukraine project supporting communities through five centres in Boyarka, Kropyvnytskyi, Odesa, Poltava, and Ternopil.

The project strengthens YMCA Ukraine’s capacity to support young people and women through youth clubs, leadership development, psychosocial support, and advocacy training.

In just six months, more than 2,500 young people and women have already been reached—and this number continues to grow every day.

✨Together, the team is building a stronger movement and more inclusive communities across Ukraine. 💛💙

🔻YMCA’s AI Sprint is about more than technology — it’s about opening access to AI tools, building digital confidence, and helping communities seize new opportunities.

In partnership with Microsoft and Founderz, YMCA Serbia is part of a learning community focused on practical AI skills and inclusive innovation.

💡As one of the initiative’s winners, the team also received Xbox devices, now being used to strengthen outreach, engagement, and gamified learning for young people at the hub.

🔻Our very own Mark Healy represented YMCA Europe at the European Youth Forum’s Board meeting at the European Youth Centre in Budapest this July, officially kicking off a two-year mandate (2026–2028) as part of Europe’s largest youth participation platform’s governing body.

Over four intense days, the Board dove into governance, strategic priorities, and advocacy planning for the term ahead, laying the groundwork for representing young people and youth organisations across Europe.

🔻During the European Commission’s Disaster Resilience Days, we explored resources that can support YMCA youth programmes, community activities, and preparedness training.

💡The featured tools include resilience assessments and safety plans from RESILIAGE, community preparedness case studies from SYNERGIES, serious games from PARATUS, immersive risk-communication tools from DIRECTED, and the B-PREPARED mobile app, which uses quizzes, geolocation, and augmented reality.
