💻 Digital learning, real opportunities at YMCA Newcastle, in the UK!

YMCA Newcastle is integrating digital learning into its youth and community programmes, using HP HOPE laptops to support financial education and future skills through NatWest Thrive.

A Bernicia-funded employability programme also uses Learn My Way resources from the Good Things Foundation, while wider youth activities include online research for creative projects and learning about online safety.

As part of the National Youth Agency network, together with HP, YMCA Newcastle is helping young people build the confidence and skills to thrive. 💙

Is digital wellbeing really just about using your phone less? 📱

Often, advice around technology focuses solely on screen limits and digital detoxes.

But spending less time online doesn't automatically address how tech affects our emotional balance, daily habits, or personal connections.

Our latest carousel breaks down why digital wellbeing is really about awareness rather than restriction:
• How do you feel after scrolling?
• Are you in control of your attention?
• Are digital spaces helping or hindering real connection?

To help young people navigate these questions without judgment, explore the free OASIS Training Pack with practical tools and resources.

🔻In Sweden, young people are navigating housing affordability, insecure work, mental health pressures and limited access to youth-friendly spaces.

These challenges are not experienced equally, with low-income, migrant and newly arrived young people often facing additional barriers to stability and support.

The Youth Wellbeing Report looks beyond individual issues to show how young people experience their communities, opportunities and futures across Europe.

🌍 EHMC in action in Romania!

YMCA Romania recently hosted a local event to share the development of the eDU Hubs and Mobile Centres (EHMC) project, including the activities and opportunities offered through its Mobile Hub.

The gathering brought people together to connect, exchange ideas and learn from the project’s progress—strengthening relationships and local support for refugees and host communities. Thank you to everyone who took part! 💙

🔻Inclusion only works when people are part of the process from the start.

In Brussels, YMCA joined the European Youth Forum’s European MOSAIC consultation to explore how youth events, Erasmus+ activities and consultation processes can become more accessible and genuinely participatory.

With the EU’s next long-term budget shaping future opportunities for youth participation and inclusion, these conversations matter now. We also brought back practical tools and methods that YMCA members can use to identify barriers and involve young people more directly in programme design and decision-making.

🔻YMCA Ireland National Team Gathering in Cork!

Members of the YMCA Ireland national team are together in Cork this week for a few days of strategic planning and collaboration.

As an all-island national movement, moments like this are vital for aligning shared vision and priorities.

✨ Here's what they're focusing on during their time together:
📍 The Upcoming AGM & Annual Gathering: Finalising the details to bring the movement together.
📍 The New Strategic Plan: Progressing the new strategy, which they are excited to officially launch at the AGM!
📍 National Alignment: Coordinating all-island priorities so they can continue to deliver maximum impact for young people and communities across Ireland.

The team is stepping into this next chapter aligned, energised, and deeply committed to supporting young people.

💡They know they are stronger together as they work towards a better world.

🔻At YMCA Romania, international learning is not only about travelling, meeting new people or gaining new skills—it is about bringing those experiences back home and using them to create connection, participation and positive change.

After taking part in the All Out Project in Ommen, the Netherlands, YMCA Romania volunteers organised a community treasure hunt filled with creative challenges and obstacle courses.

By sharing what they had learned in a fun, inclusive way, they created a space for people to come together, take part and experience the value of teamwork.

👉This is youth empowerment in action: young people gaining confidence through international experiences, turning ideas into local activities, and becoming active contributors to stronger communities.

205 years ago today, our YMCA founder George Williams was born. 🎂

We continue to carry forward his work and his vision for young people across the world.

"My last legacy, and it is a precious one, is the Young Men's Christian Association. I leave it to you beloved young men of many countries to carry on and extend."
— George Williams

His legacy lives on in every YMCA community, every young leader empowered, and every life touched by our movement. 💙
