Our Spanish Fur Free Alliance colleagues ARDE Global have just filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office in A Coruña after an undercover investigation revealed horrific conditions on a mink farm in Abegondo.

Sadly, we are, however, not shocked by the images. Time and again investigations on fur farms, including ones like these that hold the industry's 'WelFur' certification, expose the severe suffering of animals kept for fur production. It is not just a few rotten eggs. The industry is rotten to its core. Confining species like mink to small wire cages is simply inherently inhumane.

It is insane with all the evidence against fur farming, including the European Food Safety Authority's scientific opinion on the issue, that Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi is still even considering proposing animal welfare standards for animals on fur farms.

Let it be clear. The only way to end the suffering of mink, foxes, raccoon dogs and chinchillas is to introduce a full ban and phase-out of all fur farming in the EU. This is also what the 1.5+ million citizens who signed the demanded. 👉🏻 https://www.eldiario.es/galicia/visones-conviven-cadaveres-excrementos-extremidades-canibalizadas-granja-horrores-galicia_1_13247941.html

Grief doesn’t belong to humans alone.
Pets can mourn deeply after the loss of a caregiver or companion and their pain often shows through changes in behavior, health and routines 🐾

Recognizing the signs of pet grief is the first step toward helping them heal.
With patience, stability and care, we can support our animals as they navigate loss in their own way. ❤️

We’re pleased to announce that, together with other NGOs, we contributed to a new EU regulation that will strengthen the European Chemicals Agency - ECHA’s work on chemical safety and prioritize animal-free science in chemical testing.

The European Parliament has adopted the regulation, and it has now moved to the next phase of the legislative process.

We’re encouraged by EU’s commitments to advance non-animal testing methods, including:
🧪 support for developing and using animal-free methods
🔬 training for staff and interest-holders on these methods
🌐 broader input from groups working on animal-free science
🤝 stronger collaboration between EU agencies

We have boots on the ground in the EU, as well as most major chemicals-manufacturing countries, to ensure these commitments turn into real progress for animals and modern science!

When the former fur industry CEO tells you fur farming is "inherently cruel" and should be banned — it's time to listen.

Mike Moser spent over a decade defending the fur industry at the highest levels. Then he saw a fox, one among thousands, caged, broken, and resigned to its fate. And he walked away.

Now he's calling for an EU fur farming ban with science, economics, and ethics by his side pointing all in the same direction.

Will the European Commission and Olivér Várhelyi listen to experts such as Mike?

Read Mike's full story here:

For over 10 years I spent my professional life promoting and defending the fur trade. As director of standards for the International Fur Federation, I oversaw compliance with international and national welfare regulations and industry standards. I was also chief executive for the British Fur Trade.

Many people see dogs and cats as their trusted companions, but in some parts of Asia they suffer terribly: here, 30 million dogs and 10 million cats are killed every year for the meat trade for human consumption. Share this to help raise awareness and drive change.

Our efforts to secure cosmetic animal testing bans in key beauty markets across the globe have not only saved countless animals but have demonstrated how kinder scientific practices are capable of safely replacing older, animal-based methods. 🐁🧪

We’re working towards a world where animal-testing is no longer the basis for ensuring safety for humans. Beyond cosmetics, this includes chemicals such as those found in cleaning products, household paints, and clothes dyes.

In our series this month, we will be sharing information from our recent project, exploring how some legally required animal tests generate data that is entirely meaningless, resulting in thousands of animals every year unnecessarily subjected to cruel testing. We will also be showing what we’re doing to change this. ✊

Comment “I’m in” if you’ll follow the series.

We would like to clarify the latest news regarding Milan Fashion Week.

Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI), the exclusive owner of the “Milano Fashion Week®” trademark, announced last week that it will no longer promote fur at official Milan Fashion Week events, in its communication activities, or on its social media channels.

CNMI published its “Guidelines on the use of fur at Milano Fashion Week shows”, inviting brands not to use it in Milan Fashion Week runway shows.

While CNMI will not prevent designers from using fur in their collections, the organization hopes that by calling on brands to go fur-free, and refusing to promote fur products during MFW, it will drive innovation for more ethical and sustainable materials.

While CNMI’s fur guidelines for Milan Fashion Week don’t go as far as other fur-fee fashion weeks, we support the progress made and will continue to work for a fur-free future.

🌍 Biodiversity is the delicate balance that keeps our planet alive and every species plays a vital role in protecting it.

From elephants in South Africa to sharks in Australia, our work spans continents and ecosystems to help animals live free from cruelty, exploitation and suffering.

🐘 In Africa, we work to protect elephants from trophy hunting and care for rescued chimpanzees in Liberia.
🦜 In Central America, we support the rescue and rehabilitation of animals affected by wildlife trafficking.
🐍 In India, we raise awareness about snakebite prevention and coexistence with snakes.
🦊 In Europe, we campaign to end fur farming and protect millions of animals from suffering.
🦈 In Australia, we advocate for stronger protections for sharks and marine life.

These are only some of the projects we carry out around the world every day to defend animals and preserve biodiversity for future generations.

Because protecting animals means protecting the future of our planet. 💚

Wildlife is essential for the health of our planet. 🌍

Every species plays a unique role in maintaining balanced ecosystems. Predators like wolves and lynxes help regulate prey populations, while animals such as rhinos and giraffes shape habitats and support biodiversity through seed dispersal. Scavengers like vultures help stop the spread of disease by cleaning up carcasses in the wild.

But these delicate ecosystems are under threat. Trophy hunting targets some of the world’s most iconic and vulnerable species, including lions, elephants, leopards, hippos and primates, disrupting social groups, weakening populations and reducing genetic diversity.

When key animals are removed from the wild, the consequences can affect entire ecosystems.

The EU remains the second largest importers of hunting trophies. By banning trophy imports, decision-makers have the opportunity to help protect endangered and vulnerable species for future generations.

We’re celebrating a major step towards a more ethical and responsible fashion industry! 🥳

The National Chamber of Italian Fashion (CNMI) has announced that it will no longer promote fur at any official Milan Fashion Week events or in its communications, including on social media. Furthermore, starting from the Autumn 2026 edition, it will invite brands not to present clothing, accessories or any other items featuring fur during the fashion shows. You can read more here: https://www.humaneworld.org/en/news/milan-fashion-week-goes-fur-free

This is the result of a joint effort: Humane World for Animals worked side by side with LAV and Collective Fashion Justice to secure this public commitment from CNMI.

Everyone who signed our petition to end fur farming in Europe is also helping make this change possible, keeping European institutions focused on the future of fashion and animal protection.

Let’s continue to build a cruelty-free fashion industry together. 💙

Milan Fashion Week has taken a meaningful step forward by encouraging brands to remove animal fur from the runway - another sign that “the writing is on the wall” for the fur industry in Europe.

The new guidance from Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana was developed with input from Humane World for Animals, alongside Collective Fashion Justice and LAV, and marks a major shift from one of fashion’s last strongholds of fur.

While not an outright ban, the guidance makes clear that fur is no longer condoned at Milan Fashion Week, reflecting growing momentum across the fashion industry and the EU toward a fur-free future.

As Dr Joanna Swabe, Senior director of public affairs at Humane World for Animals Europe, explains in Vogue's article, fur farming now has a very limited economic impact, while scientific evidence continues to expose the severe animal welfare problems inherent to fur production.

Momentum is building across the fashion industry and within the EU toward a fur-free future. The question now is: will the European Union follow with a market-wide ban on fur farming and sales?

Read the full article to learn more about what this decision could mean for animals, fashion, and the future of fur in Europe: https://www.vogue.com/article/milan-fashion-week-condemns-fur-will-the-eu-follow

Milan Fashion Week organizer CNMI is the latest to encourage brands to phase out animal fur, adding heat to calls for an EU-wide ban on the production and sale of fur products. There’s a long road ahead.
