As draws to a close in Belém, global attention is turning to Johannesburg, where is bringing together leaders from industry, government, and civil society. The overlap is more than symbolic: it reflects a growing realization that climate, trade, and food security are increasingly interconnected.

Writing in Devex today, CropLife International’s President and CEO, Emily Rees, argues that we’re at an inflection point: decisions made now will determine whether global systems bend under pressure or are rebuilt to withstand it. She outlines clear priorities for business and governments to act together, seizing the opportunity for meaningful collaboration.

At the 2025 International Grains Council Conference, our President and CEO Emily Rees laid out a bold vision for the future of food security – rooted in resilience, productivity and open, rules-based trade.

She called for the safeguarding and enhancing of the rules-based trading system, and the reference bodies to support agricultural innovation and get new technologies into the hands of farmers, whilst urging governments not to limit access through unilateral trade measures.

As Emily said: ''This is our moment. Resilience. Productivity. Rules-based trade. Working together, we can make this happen."
