ฮคhis International Women's Day, we want to talk about something that doesn't get enough attention. ๐
Women's mental health. And the role that movement can play.
Here are three facts that matter:
๐ Women are nearly twice as likely as men to be diagnosed with depression.
(Source: World Health Organization, 2024)
๐ 49% of women in the EU say they never exercise or play sport โ compared to 40% of men.
(Source: Eurobarometer 525, European Commission, 2022)
๐ The physical inactivity gap between women and men has remained unchanged for nearly 20 years.
(Source: Messing et al., BMC Public Health, 2019 | Guthold et al., ScienceDirect, 2024)
These are not just numbers.
They point to real structural barriers time, safety, access, social norms, that keep women from using one of the most evidence-based tools for mental wellbeing: physical activity.
At ENALMH, we believe movement is self-care. Not a luxury. Not a reward. A right.
